On the night of September 21,2016, Kim Simmonds reunited with former band-mate Roger Earl for a killer performances at New York City’s B.B.King’s nightclub. Roger Earl’s band Foghat were celebrating the release of their brand new album entitled Under The Influence. Roger Earl had been a member of Kim Simmonds band Savoy Brown in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Roger Earl had replaced Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson) on drums in Savoy Brown in 1968. However in 1971, Roger Earl along with Tony Stevens and Dave Peverett left Savoy Brown to form Foghat.

Roger Earl is the only remaining member of the original lineup of the Foghat band. Earl has also remained the only consistent member of the band through out the band’s entire career. The current lineup of the band features Roger Earl on drums, Charlie Huhn on vocals, Craig MacGregor on bass and Bryan Bassett on guitar. The band has lost many key member over the past twenty years. A few months ago, longtime Foghat guitarist Erik Cartwright passed away. The band’s legendary lead singer and also former Savoy Brown member Dave Peverett passed away in 2000. Guitarist Rod Price who had also been an original member of the band Foghat passed away in 2005. Despite the loss of so many of the great musicians who we  all loved in Foghat, Roger Earl has kept the band together both in the studio and on the road.

In celebration of their new album, Under The Influence, Roger Earl invited his former Savoy Brown band mate Kim Simmonds to help celebrate the band Foghat’s most recent release. In tribute to our recent Essential Savoy Browns songs list and our very popular Top 10 Foghat songs article, we thought we would share with you some great video of the historic reunion night between Roger Earl and Kim Simmonds.

Kim Simmonds joined the band for some great covers of the songs  “Where’s The Rock N Roll,” “I’ve Been Drinkin,” “Sweet Home Chicago,” and the classic Foghat monster hit “I Just Want To Make Love To You.” Its simply mesmerizing to watch Kim Simmonds and Roger Earl play together once again. Savoy Brown and Foghat are forever tied together. They are two of the greatest rock bands to have ever graced the stage. Lucky for us, they are still rocking at this very moment.
