It’s a groove that she uses throughout her whole career very effectively. The song “I Want You,” broke the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 61. It was issued on the album entitled Flower. It was Jody Watley’s sixth album. The song was written by Charles Pendleton, Cassandra Lucas, Darrell Floyd, and D. Reid. The song “Off The Hook,” hit number one on the US Billboard Hot dance club play charts. It also hit number 23 on the US Billboard Hot R&B singles charts.

The album came out in 2006. The cover version of Madonna’s song “Borderline,” was a big hit for Jody Watley. It hit number two on the US dance music charts in 2006.  Madonna’s version was originally released in 1983 on her debut album.

With the great song “I’m The One You Need,” Jody Watley found herself exploring a little bit of house music. The song was released on Jody Watley’s third album entitled Affairs Of The Heart. The album was released in 1991. The song “I’m The One You Need,” was released as the second single from the record in February of 1992. The song hit number three on the US dance music charts. “I’m The One You Need,” was also a top 20 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at number 19. The song “I’m The One You Need,” was written by Jody Watley, David Morales and Alec Shantiz. Even though there’s a bit of a house vibe to this song, you could still hear that traditional Jody Watley beat fueling the song.

# 6 – Your Love Keeps Working On Me

In 1993, Jody Watley released the album Intimacy. The lead single from the album was the song entitled “Your Love Keeps Working On Me.” The song was released as the first single from the album. It was a successful single release as the song hit number two on the US Billboard Dance Charts. It also just broke the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at number 100. The song “Your Love Keeps Working On Me.” was written by John Barnes, Joey Diggs and Robert White. “Your Love Keeps Working On Me,” also appeared on the soundtrack to the motion picture Bebe’s Kids.

# 5 – Still A Thrill

It followed up her huge hit single “Looking For a New Love.” “Still A Thrill,” did not do as well on the US Billboard Hot 100 as the song “Looking For a New Love.” did. However the song did hit number 3 on the US R&B  charts. It also hit number 8 on the US Dance Music Charts. The song “Looking For a New Love.” was written by Jody Watley and Andre Cymone.

# 4 – Don’t You Want Me

Continuing towards the end of our top 10 Jody Watley songs list we present the single that followed up “Still A Thrill.” The third single released from Jody Wiley’s debut album was entitled “Don’t You Want Me.” The song is all synthesizers. That was the sound of a 1980’s dance music. The song “Don’t You Want Me,” returned Jody Watley back to the US Hot 100 top 10. The song peaked at number six on the charts. It also hit number three on the US R&B charts and went straight to number one on the US Billboard Dance charts. This was a big one.

# 3 – Everything

The Jody Watley song entitled “Everything,” was released on Jody Watley’s second album titled Larger than Life. The album was released in 1989. “Everything,” was the third single released from the album. It was another explosive hit for Jody Watley. The song hit number 4 on the US Hot 100. It also hit number three on the US R&B charts. However it was the first Jody Watley single to be released that did not break into the US dance charts, simply because it wasn’t a dance song.

# 2 – Real Love

At number two on our top 10 Jody Watley songs list is the great song “Real Love.” The song was the lead single from her sophomore album Larger than Life. The song was tied with “Looking For a New Love,” as the most successful single release of Jody Watley’s career. “Real Love,” hit number two on the US Hot 100 in 1989. The song hit number one on the US R&B charts as well as number 1 on the US dance charts. The song was certified a gold record for Jody Watley. It would be her second gold record of her career.

# 1 – Looking For A New Love

We close out our top 10 Jody Watley songs list with Jody Watley signature song entitled “Looking For a New Love.” the song was released on Jody Watley’s debut album entitled Jody Watley. It was the first single release of her career.  It had this exact same numbers out of the single “Real Love,” which we just wrote about hitting number two on the US Hot 100, hitting number one on the US R&B charts as well as number 1 on the US Dance charts. Except this was done in 1987 as opposed to 1989. The song “Looking For a New Love,” would become one of the classic 1980s dance tracks. Everyone knew this one. Everyone remembers this one.
