The origins of Tommy James and the Shondells goes all the way back to the city of Niles, Michigan. It was then when a 12-year-old named Tommy James served as lead singer in a band called The Echoes. When Tommy James turned 15, his band released their first single entitled “Long Pony Tail.” The song was released in 1962. Eventually, Tommy James renamed the band Tommy James and the Shondells.
