Classic rock fans and especially fans of The Who will be very happy to hear that the Who have just announced tour dates for their upcoming tour entitled The Who Hits Back. It’s been a long time since we have seen The Who. Like The Rolling Stones, the band remains one of the last groups fROM the 1960s and 1970s classic rock era that can still excite fans and bring us all back to the glory days of the classic rock era. If your a fan of classic rock, you have to be a fan of The Who. In our book, they have delivered two of the greatest rock songs of all time in “Baba O’Riley, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”  To be able to hear Roger Daltrey sing those songs again on stage is a chance most classic rock fans will not want to miss. And of course all the other great songs from albums like Tommy, Quadrophenia, Who’s Next, Who Are You and My Generation.

Roger Daltrey is 77 and Pete Townshend is 76 but that doesn’t seem to matter as these guys just seem to be ageless. We saw The Who about ten years ago and they still sounded great. Their energy level was off the charts just like it always was. The band will feature of course Roger and Pete along with Zak Starkey on drums who always kills it in the shows. The man is an amazing drummer. Also in the band is Pete Townshend’s brother Simon on guitar, Jon Button on bass. Loren Gold and Emily Marshall on keyboards. Additionally, the band will be surrounded by an  orchestra conducted by Keith Levenson and featuring  star violinist Katie Jacoby, and star cellist Audrey Snyder.

The tour is based on many dates that were cancelled due to the pandemic. Additional dates have also been added. The dates are below. Most tickets go on sale this Friday. The tour will focus on the albums Tommy, Quadrophenia and The Who’s Next. Arguably the band’s three greatest records, so expect to hear all the classics. The group has said they will also be playing songs from there new album that was released in 2019 that many classic rock fans are probably not even aware off.

The band is firm in saying that this is not a farewell tour. It’s nice to hear that as so many bands use the farewell tour label to just sell tickets. However we can’t imagine that The Who would have any problem selling out shows no matter where they play.
