Our Top 10 Kim Mitchell songs list takes a look at a rock and roll star from Canada that was huge in his native country but never really broke too big in the United States. After working with Canadian rock band Max Webster, Ken Mitchell left the group to embark on a solo career in the early 1980s. Kim Mitchell released his first solo album in 1984 entitled Akimbo Alogo. He had previously released an EP in 1982 simply entitled Kim Mitchell. The last half of the twentieth century saw Kim Mitchell release six studio albums. After the release of Akimbo Alogo in 1984, Kim Mitchell released the album Shaking Like a Human Being in 1986. That was followed by the record Rockland in 1989 which was his highest charting album of his career. In 1992, Kim Mitchell released the album Oral Fixations. Over an 8-year period Kim Mitchell had released four straight albums with three of them going platinum and one gold.

Kim Mitchell’s 1994 album release entitled Itch was his first album not to go gold since he began his solo career. It would be another six years before Kim Mitchell released another record. In 1999 Kim Mitchell released the album entitled Kimosabe. Another eight years would pass by until Kim Mitchell released the album Ain’t Life Amazing. Just when you thought that Kim Mitchell might have been done with his music career, thirteen years after the Ain’t Life Amazing amazing was released in 2007, Kim Mitchell returned in 2020 with the album The Big Fantasize.

# 10 – Miss Demeanor

Although this song failed to chart anywhere, it doesn’t take away from how hard this song rocks. Anyone with an ear that heard this one back then, could tell that Kim Mitchell was an artist that was going to have a long career.

This great album was Kim Mitchell’s third album release. It was widely successful in Canada where it hit double platinum selling two hundred million copies.

# 4 – Patio Lanterns

This one was a big fan favorite entitled “Patio Lanterns.” The song was released as the first single from the album in 1986. It was a big hit in Canada. The song actually broke through to the US Billboard top rock tracks breaking into the top 40 and peaking at number 36. It was a top 20 hit on the Canadian mainstream charts.

Kim Mitchell’s “All We Are,” was a standout ballad and one of the strongest of his career. The song was released on his great album titled Akimbo Alogo. The album was released in 1984.
