Lady Gaga Covers Sting

One of rock and roll’s greatest artists of all time was covered by one of popular music’s most talented modern-day artists at the 2014 Kennedy Awards ceremony. Legendary artist Sting was being honored for his contributions to the artistic culture of the United States. Lady Gaga performed Sting’s classic track “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You,” which originally appeared on Sting’s 1993 album Ten Summoners Tales.

Lady Gaga delivered a fiery performance as both a vocalist and pianist. Her improvisational skills filled the middle section of the song makes for a rather interesting and exceptionally entertaining performance of the Sting classic track. It was at the point when she saluted Sting, that the former bandleader of The Police seemed to struggle in holding back the tears.

Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein announced the importance of the Kennedy Center and the honorary award given yearly to some of the world’s greatest artists. Rubenstein said “The Kennedy Center celebrates five extraordinary individuals who have spent their lives elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world,” And in reference to Sting, Rubsnstein said, “Sting’s unique voice and memorable songwriting have entertained audiences for decades.”
