You don’t have to be a Van Morrison fan to be knocked out by his beautiful new song “Memory Lane.” Its one of the rare songs that completely captures your attention regardless of where you are at the moment you first hear the song. The music’s beautiful descending bass pattern are wrapped around cascading heart warming string lines that wonderfully accentuate the striking melody of the music. Van Morrison’s sentimental lyrics are perfectly matched to the brilliant melody of the song. Memory Land is easily the most beautiful song Van Morrison has issued since the release of Have I Told You Lately in the mid 1980’s.
The song “Memory Lane” appears on Van Morrison’s brand new album Keep Me Singing
. The album was released in stores early October 2016. It is Van Morrison’s first album since his 2012 release Born to Sing: No Plan B.
The Keep Me Singing album reflects the sound of Van Morrison’s underrated 1979 album Into The Music. The Into The Music album was easily the most romantic album Van Morrison ever released in his career. However, the sentiments found on Van Morrison’s new release come close to realizing the same emotional core found on the Into The Music LP.
Van Morrison enjoyed major success in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s with songs such as “Moondance, Brown Eyed Girl, and Crazy Love.” Van Morrison’s first album was released in 1967 entitled Blowin’ Your Mind! In the late 1970’s Morrison scored big again with his hit “Wavelength.” Van Morrison has continued to release new music on a consistent basis cover the past forty years.

I’d be interested in your interpretation of the song lyrics and if it’s basically voiced by someone looking back positively or not. Also, any thoughts why ‘the nights are getting shorter’?
