Dorothy is a rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2014 and built around the powerful voice and songwriting of Dorothy Martin. Over the years, the lineup surrounding Martin has changed, with musicians including Nick Perri, Sam “Bam” Koltun, Eliot Lorango, Jake Hayden, Dylan Howard, Gregg Cash, Zac Morris, Mark Jackson, Nick Maybury, Owen Barry, Jason Ganberg, Devon Pangle, and Eli Wulfmeier contributing to different periods of the band’s career.

The band is known for a blues-infused hard rock sound, strong guitar riffs, and the commanding presence of Dorothy Martin. Across four studio albums, Dorothy has moved from the raw blues rock of ROCKISDEAD through the psychedelic and soul influences of 28 Days in the Valley, the spiritual hard rock of Gifts from the Holy Ghost, and the Southern rock, country, and gospel elements of The Way.

Dorothy Studio Albums

ROCKISDEAD (2016)

Released: June 24, 2016

ROCKISDEAD is the debut studio album by Dorothy. The title immediately brings to mind the famous “rock is dead” refrain from the Who’s “Long Live Rock,” although the album stands firmly on its own as a declaration of modern rock and roll.

Dorothy Martin worked closely with producer Linda Perry, known for her work with Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and her own band, 4 Non Blondes. The album’s musicians included guitarists Nick Maybury and Owen Barry, bassist Eli Wulfmeier, drummer Jason Ganberg, and keyboardist Eliot Lorango.

This was a very cool debut filled with pure rock and roll songs delivered with an updated modern sound.
