The group hails from the Waitsfield area of Vermont. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have consisted of musicians lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter, guitarist Scott Tournet, drummer Matthew Burr, bassist Bryan Dondero, guitarist Benny Yurco, bassist Catherine Popper, and bassist and multi-instrumentalist Michael Libramento.

Throughout their career, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals released a total of four studio albums along with several live releases. Grace Potter’s 2004 album Original Soul was released under her own name and is not part of the band’s four-album studio discography. In 2012, Potter received a Grammy nomination with Kenny Chesney for their collaboration on the song “You and Tequila,” which became a major country hit.

Nothing But the Water (2005)

With Nothing But the Water, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals began to gain significant attention. This album features a mix of blues, funk, and rock that significantly defines the band’s sound. This Is Somewhere (2007)

This Is Somewhere was the second studio album by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and their first album released through Hollywood Records. The album continued the band’s mix of roots rock, blues, folk, and country influences while expanding its sound. Mike Daly produced the album. The lineup included Grace Potter on vocals, keyboards, organ, and guitar; Scott Tournet on guitar and backing vocals; Bryan Dondero on bass and other stringed instruments; and Matt Burr on drums and percussion. The album reached number 119 on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, the band’s self-titled third studio album, marked a significant evolution in their sound, introducing a more polished rock style that blended with their established roots in blues and folk.
