Simple Plan originated in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band was officially formed in 1999 by a group of friends who had been playing together for some time. They quickly made a name for themselves in the pop-punk scene with catchy hooks and relatable lyrics addressing themes of teenage angst and coming-of-age struggles. Simple Plan’s debut album, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls, released in 2002, was a commercial success, featuring hits like “I’m Just a Kid” and “Perfect.” The band’s ability to connect with a wide audience led to several successful follow-up albums, including Still Not Getting Any… and Simple Plan. Over the years, Simple Plan has been known for energetic live performances and charitable efforts, particularly through the Simple Plan Foundation, which helps young people in need.

As of August 31, 2026, Simple Plan’s core lineup consists of Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Jeff Stinco, and Sébastien Lefebvre. Nicholas Kennedy continues to perform with the band as its touring bassist. The band’s most recent studio album remains Harder Than It Looks, released in 2022.

Pierre Bouvier

Pierre Bouvier has been the lead vocalist of Simple Plan since its formation in 1999. Initially, he also played bass before switching primarily to lead vocals when David Desrosiers joined the band in 2000. Bouvier’s energetic stage presence and distinctive voice have played a pivotal role in defining the band’s sound. He has been heavily involved in writing the band’s material and has contributed to every Simple Plan album. Following Desrosiers’ departure in 2020, Bouvier again took on bass duties in the studio while continuing as the band’s lead singer. Outside Simple Plan, Bouvier has also participated in television and music-related projects.

Chuck Comeau

Chuck Comeau is the drummer and one of the founding members of Simple Plan. His dynamic drumming style provides the backbone for the band’s upbeat and high-energy performances. Comeau has also been instrumental in songwriting and in many of the band’s creative and business decisions. Prior to Simple Plan, he played in the band Reset with Pierre Bouvier. Comeau has remained a constant member of Simple Plan since 1999.

Jeff Stinco

Jeff Stinco is the lead guitarist for Simple Plan and has been with the band since its inception. His guitar work is characterized by a melodic yet powerful style that contributes to the band’s signature pop-punk sound. Stinco also provided backing vocals during the band’s earliest period. Outside Simple Plan, he has been involved in business and music-education projects, reflecting his continuing commitment to the music community.

Sébastien Lefebvre

Sébastien Lefebvre plays rhythm guitar and provides backing vocals for Simple Plan, roles he has held since the band’s formation. Lefebvre’s contributions help round out the harmonic structure of the band’s music, and he has occasionally played bass during periods when the group needed a live substitute. In addition to his work with Simple Plan, Lefebvre has pursued solo and side projects that explore a softer and more acoustic-driven sound than the band’s usual pop-punk style.

David Desrosiers

David Desrosiers joined Simple Plan in 2000 as the bassist and provided backing and occasional lead vocals until his departure in 2020. Desrosiers was known for his lively performance style and vocal contributions, which became an important part of the band’s live sound. He took several periods away from touring before officially withdrawing from Simple Plan in July 2020. After his departure, Pierre Bouvier resumed bass duties in the studio, while the band continued using touring bassists for live performances.

Chady Awad

Chady Awad served as a touring bassist for Simple Plan during several periods when David Desrosiers was unavailable, most notably during the band’s 2017 through 2019 touring period. Awad had already worked with Simple Plan in other touring and media roles and helped the band maintain its live five-piece format during Desrosiers’ absences.

Nicholas Kennedy

Nicholas Kennedy began touring with Simple Plan on bass in 2021 following David Desrosiers’ departure. Kennedy remains the band’s touring bassist in 2026, allowing Pierre Bouvier to concentrate on lead vocals during live performances while Bouvier continues to handle bass on studio recordings. Kennedy has become a regular part of Simple Plan’s touring configuration without being listed as one of the band’s four permanent core members.
