Bleachers is an American indie pop project based in New Jersey, formed in 2013 by musician and songwriter Jack Antonoff. Antonoff, who is also a member of the bands Fun and Steel Train, started Bleachers while touring with Fun. He aimed to create a sound deeply rooted in late ’80s, early ’90s music, which he considered the music that deeply influenced him during his formative years. Bleachers’ music is known for its nostalgic reverb-saturated sound, combining the ethos of classic rock with synth-pop elements.

The project debuted with the album Strange Desire in 2014, which included hits like “I Wanna Get Better” and “Rollercoaster.” The album was well-received and marked by its creative production and catchy songwriting, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Bleachers’ second album, Gone Now, was released in 2017 and featured a more introspective look at Antonoff’s personal experiences and losses. This album also enjoyed chart success, though to a lesser degree, reaching number 44 on the Billboard 200. In 2021, Antonoff released Bleachers’ third studio album, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, which further refined his exploration of personal themes and collaborative works, featuring artists like Bruce Springsteen and Lana Del Rey.

Throughout their career, Bleachers has not released any live albums or compilations officially but has been involved in various soundtracks and collaborations that showcase Antonoff’s versatility as a producer and songwriter. The band has performed at major music festivals and gained a robust following, thanks to their energetic live performances and the strong personal connection fans feel with Antonoff’s songwriting. Bleachers continues to influence the indie pop scene with their innovative sound and emotive lyrics, securing their place as a distinctive voice in contemporary music.
