Jackyl burst onto the American hard rock scene in the early 1990s with a raucous mix of Southern rock, heavy metal, and unapologetic showmanship. Formed in Georgia, the band quickly gained notoriety for its high-energy performances and Jesse James Dupree’s use of a chainsaw as a musical instrument. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1992 and produced enduring songs such as “The Lumberjack,” “Down on Me,” “I Stand Alone,” and “When Will It Rain.”

Jackyl continued recording and touring through changing musical eras, releasing albums including Push Comes to Shove, Cut the Crap, Relentless, When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide, Best in Show, Rowyco, and Jackyl 30 Coming In Hot. The current lineup consists of Jesse James Dupree, Jeff Worley, Chris Worley, and Roman Glick, while former members such as Jimmy Stiff, Thomas Bettini, Ronnie Honeycutt, Cliff Witherspoon, and Jamie Taylor remain part of the band’s history.

Jesse James Dupree

Jesse James Dupree has been Jackyl’s frontman since the band’s breakthrough in the early 1990s. He handles lead vocals, guitar, and the band’s signature chainsaw, which became inseparable from “The Lumberjack” and Jackyl’s live identity. Dupree’s songwriting and stage presence helped define the band’s sound from the 1992 debut through its later releases.

Outside Jackyl, Dupree has pursued solo work and business projects through Mighty Loud Entertainment. His solo album Breathing Fire was released in 2023 and featured his son Nigel Dupree on drums, Roman Glick on bass, and songwriting collaborations with AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson.

Jeff Worley

Jeff Worley is a founding member of Jackyl and has remained one of the band’s principal guitarists throughout its career. His playing appears across the group’s catalog and is central to the hard rock and Southern rock blend heard on songs such as “Down on Me,” “When Will It Rain,” and “I Stand Alone.”

Worley has also pursued creative work outside Jackyl, including writing and visual art. His long tenure alongside Dupree and Chris Worley has made him one of the defining members of the band.

Chris Worley

Chris Worley is Jackyl’s founding drummer and has remained a core member of the band since its early years. His drumming helped establish the driving rhythm of the debut album and continued through the group’s later studio releases and extensive touring schedule.

Worley’s role has been especially important to Jackyl’s live sound, where the band’s songs depend heavily on a strong, direct rhythmic attack. He remains part of the current Jackyl lineup.

Roman Glick

Roman Glick joined Jackyl after the band’s original 1990s lineup and became the group’s longtime bassist and backing vocalist. By the time of Relentless in 2002, Glick was part of the lineup that carried Jackyl into its next phase, and he has remained with the band ever since.

Before Jackyl, Glick was a member of Brother Cane. He has also continued working with Jesse James Dupree outside the band, including playing bass on Dupree’s 2023 solo album Breathing Fire.

Jimmy Stiff

Jimmy Stiff was a founding guitarist in Jackyl and played on the band’s major 1990s releases, including Jackyl, Push Comes to Shove, and Cut the Crap. His guitar work helped shape the twin-guitar sound of the original lineup during the band’s breakthrough years.

Stiff left Jackyl before the lineup that recorded Relentless. His tenure remains an important part of the band’s original sound and early success.

Ronnie Honeycutt

Ronnie Honeycutt was associated with Jackyl during the band’s formative period as an early vocalist before Jesse James Dupree became the group’s established frontman. Honeycutt was also credited as a co-writer on “Redneck Punk” from Jackyl’s 1992 debut album.

Honeycutt later remained active in music outside Jackyl. He died on August 29, 2024, at the age of 56.

Thomas Bettini

Thomas Bettini, also credited as Tom Bettini, was Jackyl’s original bassist. He played on the band’s self-titled debut, Push Comes to Shove, and Cut the Crap, anchoring the rhythm section during Jackyl’s most commercially visible period.

Bettini remained part of Jackyl through the 1990s before the band eventually moved into a new lineup configuration that included Roman Glick on bass.

Cliff Witherspoon

Cliff Witherspoon is listed among Jackyl’s former bassists. His time with the group came during a transitional period in the band’s lineup, although detailed information about his tenure and recording involvement is limited in the surviving public record.

Jamie Taylor

Jamie Taylor is listed among Jackyl’s former guitarists and has been identified with a rhythm-guitar role. Public documentation about the exact dates and extent of Taylor’s tenure remains limited, but he is part of the band’s broader lineup history.
