Of Monsters and Men Songs: Complete A-to-Z List

Of Monsters and Men is one of my favorite bands to come out of the 2010s. They came from Iceland in the early 2010s with a sound that blended indie folk, alternative rock, pop hooks, and dramatic group arrangements that could shift from intimate storytelling to enormous singalong choruses. The band developed around co-vocalists Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir and Ragnar Þórhallsson alongside guitarist Brynjar Leifsson, bassist Kristján Páll Kristjánsson, and drummer Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson. They quickly broke through after winning Iceland’s Músíktilraunir battle-of-the-bands competition and building a following through live performances at home.

The group’s first studio album, My Head Is an Animal, was released in Iceland in 2011 before receiving an expanded international release in 2012. “Little Talks” became the song that introduced Of Monsters and Men to a worldwide audience, while “Dirty Paws,” “Mountain Sound,” “King and Lionheart,” and “Six Weeks” helped establish a catalog built around vivid imagery, dual vocals, and sweeping arrangements. The band’s early period also produced songs and alternate releases that sat outside the standard international album configuration, including “Sinking Man,” “Numb Bears,” and later anniversary tracks such as “Phantom” and “Sugar in a Bowl.”

Of Monsters and Men followed with Beneath The Skin in 2015, expanding their sound through darker textures and songs such as “Crystals,” “Empire,” “Human,” “Hunger,” and “Wolves Without Teeth.” Four years later, FEVER DREAM shifted further toward synthesizers and atmospheric pop without abandoning the band’s layered vocal identity. That album produced “Alligator,” “Wild Roses,” “Wars,” “Róróró,” “Stuck in Gravity,” and other songs that showed how far the group’s sound had moved from the folk-heavy arrangements of its debut.

The years between studio albums brought another important group of releases. “Visitor,” “Destroyer,” “This Happiness,” and “Lonely Weather” were collected on the 2022 Tíu EP, while the band’s wider catalog also includes soundtrack recordings, collaborations, covers, remixes, and an official live version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song “Skeletons.” In 2025, Of Monsters and Men returned with their fourth studio album, All is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, a thirteen-song record featuring “Television Love,” “Dream Team,” “Ordinary Creature,” “Fruit Bat,” “Mouse Parade,” and “The Towering Skyscraper at the End of the Road.” The band remained active on tour throughout 2026.
