Rosalía Vila Tobella is a Spanish singer and songwriter from Sant Cugat del Vallès, Catalonia, Spain. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and completed her studies with honors, presenting a flamenco project supervised by Chiqui de la Línea. Her debut album, Los Ángeles, was released in 2017, produced with Raül Refree, and received critical acclaim. The album’s singles include “Catalina” and “De Plata”.

Her second studio album, El Mal Querer, was released in November 2018 and brought her international attention. The album, conceptual and based on the 13th-century Spanish novel Flamenca, included the singles “Malamente,” “Pienso en tu mirá,” and “Di mi nombre.” “Malamente” was a commercial success in Spain and won two Latin Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Song and Best Urban Fusion/Performance. El Mal Querer itself won Album of the Year at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards, making Rosalía the first solo female artist to win this category since Shakira in 2006. The album was certified triple platinum in Spain.

Following El Mal Querer, Rosalía released a series of successful singles, collaborating with artists such as J Balvin on “Con Altura,” which won Best Urban Song at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.
