Teddy Swims can turn a whisper into a confession and a chorus into a full-body release. The Georgia singer’s catalog follows that voice from YouTube covers and soul-pop EPs to the worldwide breakthrough of “Lose Control,” the two-part I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy project, genre-crossing collaborations, and more.

Teddy Swims built his musical identity in Conyers, Georgia, where early exposure to soul music and theatrical performance laid the groundwork for a career that would move freely among R&B, country, rock, pop, and gospel. Born Jaten Collin Dimsdale in 1992, he balanced high school football with musical theater and choral performance. His father introduced him to artists including Marvin Gaye and Al Green, while a teacher encouraged him to develop the unusually flexible voice that would eventually become his signature.
Before launching his solo career, Swims spent years performing with Atlanta-area bands working in alternative rock, post-hardcore, metal, and R&B. He began posting genre-spanning covers online in 2019, starting with Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You.” His interpretation of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” attracted an enormous audience and helped turn his online work into a recording career with Warner Records.
The EP Unlearning arrived in 2021, followed by the holiday collection A Very Teddy Christmas, Tough Love, and Sleep Is Exhausting. Those releases established the emotional directness and stylistic range that Swims carried into his first full-length album.
I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) was released in September 2023. Its breakthrough single, “Lose Control,” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024 and introduced his soul-heavy pop sound to a worldwide audience. The expanded Part 1.5 edition added songs including “Apple Juice,” “Growing Up Is Getting Old,” “Hammer to the Heart,” and “Tell Me.”
I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) followed in January 2025. The album included “Bad Dreams,” “Guilty,” “Northern Lights,” “Are You Even Real,” and “She Got It.” A 32-song Complete Edition later combined the two main albums and added “Need You More,” “God Went Crazy,” “Free Drugs,” “Small Hands,” and “Dancing With Your Ghost.”
Swims continued appearing across genres through collaborations with artists including Meghan Trainor, Thomas Rhett, Jessie Murph, ILLENIUM, Armin van Buuren, Summer Walker, Acceptance, David Guetta, Tones And I, and GIVĒON. In 2026, he released the solo singles “Mr. Know It All” and “Break Up in Reverse,” opening another chapter beyond the therapy-themed albums.
His popularity has been sustained by performances that place his vocal power and emotional openness at the center of the show. Songs about heartbreak, self-examination, loneliness, accountability, and recovery have given his work a strong personal identity even as the production moves between contemporary pop, country, soul, and rock.
