Westside Cowboy are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 2023 by Jimmy Bradbury, Reuben Haycocks, Aoife Anson O’Connell, and Paddy Murphy. Bradbury and Haycocks handle guitar and vocals, Anson O’Connell plays bass and sings, and Murphy plays drums and also contributes vocals. The musicians came together through Manchester’s music community, with Johnny Roadhouse Music becoming an important early meeting point for the group. Their sound draws from indie rock, alternative rock, country, folk, and older rock and roll without settling neatly into any one category.

The band jokingly calls its style “Britainicana,” a useful description for music that mixes American roots influences with the energy and looseness of British indie rock. Westside Cowboy released its first single, “I’ve Never Met Anyone I Thought I Could Really Love (Until I Met You),” in November 2024. Singles including “Shells,” “Alright Alright Alright,” and “Drunk Surfer” followed before the arrival of the five-song This Better Be Something Great EP in August 2025. That same year, the group won Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition and quickly developed a reputation as a powerful live band.

Westside Cowboy moved to Adventure Recordings and Island Records for the next stage of its career. “Don’t Throw Rocks” and “Can’t See” introduced the second EP, So Much Country ‘Till We Get There, which arrived in January 2026 with five songs. The record pushed the band’s mixture of noisy guitars, country textures, group vocals, and melodic songwriting into a broader sound. Songs such as “Strange Taxidermy,” “The Wahs,” and “In The Morning” showed how quickly the group was expanding beyond the rawer attack of its first releases.

The band’s debut studio album, It Goes On, was released by Island Records on August 21, 2026 and produced by Loren Humphrey. Its eleven songs include “Kick Stones (The Boys),” “Dobro,” “Pin Up Boys,” “Worried Age,” “Coyote,” and “You Could Have Died There On The Dancefloor.” An official store-exclusive digital edition added demo versions of “Dobro” and “Well Done Kid, You Did It,” giving the young band a small but already varied official catalog. With two EPs, a full-length album, and a rapidly growing international audience, Westside Cowboy moved from the Manchester club circuit to one of the most closely watched new guitar bands in Britain.
