Serving as the comeback hit that would return Aaron Neville to the musical spotlight in 1991, “Everybody Plays the Fool” earned the top spot on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart while cracking into the top ten at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number nineteen on the Canadian Singles Chart. It even earned a chart position on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) chart at number fifty two.
