# 10 – When Love Calls

The first song on our Top 10 Atlantic Starr Songs list is “When Love Calls” from their Radiant album. The song has an r&b and soul beat. The indecisive song is about a woman who is in love with a man who loves someone else. She wants the guy to leave the other woman and be with her. She thinks she is the right one for him so he should leave the other woman and be with her. If you have ever been the third party in a relationship, the lyrics will hit home for you.

The subject of the song is like a soap opera. Soap operas always have triangles so this song would fit right in with the drama going on. The woman in the song doesn’t really come off like a good person since she wants the man to leave the woman he is with in order to be with her, but she is fighting for love. We all do things we wouldn’t do when we are in love. Does it always make you right? The answer to this question is up to you.

The song was a hit with r&b fans as well as adult contemporary fans. It is easy to see why the song was such a big hit with the audience. The music has a groovy beat that will have you swaying in your seat. It may also get you on the dance floor with that special someone. It is also great for chilling around at the house or at a cookout. In addition to the excellent musical arrangement, the singing is excellent.

Sharon Bryant sings lead on this track. Her voice sounds amazing. She has perfect clarity throughout the song. You can understand every word she says. She shows vocal strength throughout the song. She utilizes her strong vocals whenever the music gets louder. She is in perfect pitch from beginning to end. The only thing missing was a long note at the end. Other than that, her vocals are phenomenal.

# 9 – All in the Name of Love

The next song on our Top 10 Atlantic Starr Songs list is “All in the Name of Love” from their album of the same name. The song has an r&b beat. The meaningful song is about a couple who wants to be together, but find reasons to be apart. They try to convince each other that they should be together. They believe they are happier together than they would be apart. They don’t see the point in fighting being together when they love each other. They know they are destined to be together.

This is a subject that is relatable to anyone who has ever been in love and feels they shouldn’t be together. If you are in love with someone and keep fighting the attraction, you should listen to this song. It may give you the inspiration to fight for the relationship.

This song is really beautiful. The music is excellent for slow dancing. It will give you a chance to be close with the one you love. Wayne Lewis and Barbara Weathers take the lead on the vocals in the song. They have incredible vocal chemistry with each other. They sound like a couple in love. Their voices sound great together. They were born to sing with each other. They gave each other room to shine on the track.

Wayne Lewis’ baritone vocals were a great blend with Barbara Weathers’ soprano vocals. The background vocals are harmonious and just as good as the lead vocals. Atlantic Starr did an incredible job with this song. It should have been a bigger hit than it was because the song is fantastic.

# 8 – My First Love

The tender song is from the album Movin’ Up. The song has an r&b and soul beat. The romantically torn song is about not being able to move on with a new love because he’s still in love with his first love. He can’t get over the woman he loves. She was his first love so he can’t move on that easily. He doesn’t want to waste another woman’s time by having her be a rebound love. He knows that he can’t get over his first love.

This is a very honest song about a relationship. People spend so much time being with people they don’t love. This song is a rarity because he wants to stop himself from hurting another woman because he can’t get over his first love.

The music sounds inviting and sentimental. The melody is similar to Surface’s “Shower Me with Your Love.” You can hear the similarities when Atlantic Starr sings the chorus. The keyboard is similar to Surface’s song. It’s not a bad thing to include that song as a sample because the song is beautiful. The song also sounds similar to their song “Masterpiece.” The way they sing the chorus is similar to their own hit song. Wayne Lewis takes the lead on this track. He sounds a little different from how he sounds on their previous songs, but his vocals are very good. David Lewis sings in the background.

We think they should have switched parts in the song, but Wayne Lewis sang the song with soul. He sings in time with the beat changes. He belts a little just before the song goes off. We’re not surprised this was a number one r&b hit. It’s perfect for Quiet Storm radio. This is the type of track you could listen to when you want to take a stroll down memory lane with your first love.

# 7 – One Lover at a Time

The messy song is from the album All in the Name of Love. The song has an r&b, soul and funk beat. The dramatic song is about a woman who has many lovers. She wants to be with one lover at a time. She tells a story about being stuck in a messy situation. She is seeing multiple men at once. She only wants to be with one man at a time.

This is a groundbreaking song. You might be thinking to yourself that Barbara Weathers is a little loose with the men. Think about it. How many songs have we heard where men are talking about having multiple women in their lives? There have been many songs where men have seen different women. She flips the script and she’s with different men. She talks about her phone ringing off the wall. That may shock us, but we’re here for it.

The song has a classic 80s beat. The musical arrangement is superb. Atlantic Starr does a fantastic job on the music. They make you want to dance to this track. There’s no way to sit still through this song. You will still find yourself moving around to the beat even if you try to sit still to it. The drumbeat is the best part of the beat. Barbara Weathers does a fantastic job selling the song. She sounds innocent so you wouldn’t think she would be involved with multiple men. Her voice is like an angel. She sounds similar to Diana Ross, Vanessa Williams and Pebbles wrapped into one voice. She sounds like she’s having a great time on this track. She sings in time with the beat. She makes you want to sing along with her and it works.

# 6 – Touch a Four Leaf Clover

The lighthearted song is from the album Yours Forever. The song has an r&b and soul. The loving song is about a couple who are in love with each other. They find themselves touching a four-leaf clover. The four-leaf clover gives them luck. This song is definitely original. There aren’t too many songs about a couple finding a four-leaf clover. This is a different take on love. They managed to take on the same subject but do something different with it. They chose to make it seem like it was lucky that they found each other. This take keeps the song from sounding too corny. Atlantic Starr will put you in a romantic place and wish you had a love like theirs.

The beat of this song is funky and soulful. The guitar and drums drive the beat. You can’t overlook the sound of the synth either. Everything about the music works. You will be put in a trance listening to this beat. It’s impossible for us to say anything bad about this jam. The music will put you in your feelings. Sharon Bryant takes the lead on this track. She was the original female singer of the group.

Her voice is very beautiful. She has a versatile sound. She can sing in a higher key the way she does on this track or she can sing deeper the way she did in “When Love Calls.” You can forget she’s the same person singing both songs. She proves how talented she is because there aren’t too many female singers who can switch it up like that. Atlantic Starr allowed Sharon Bryant to sing this track alone and shine. She did exactly what she was supposed to on this song.

# 5 – Masterpiece

The next song on our Top 10 Atlantic Starr Songs list is “Masterpiece” from the album Love Crazy. The song has an r&b and soul beat. The metaphoric song is about a love being compared to a painting. The man believes he found a “masterpiece” in the love of his life. He considers her to be a work of art. He expresses how much he loves her on this song. Women will lose their minds hearing these gorgeous lyrics about love.

Men will want to do play this track if they want to get women to fall in love with them. This song would make a perfect wedding song. Women can walk down the aisle to the men they love while this song is playing. This song would make the perfect track to dance to for the first time.

The synths open the song. You will be hooked as soon as you hear the synths begin. The song also opens with soft background hymns that will take you to another place. The music is so pretty and works with the lyrics. David Lewis sings lead on this track. His voice is composed and emotional. He is the tenor of the group and his tone works best for the track.

Wayne Lewis is a baritone so his tone wouldn’t have worked as well as David Lewis’ voice does on the track. He sings in falsetto. His vocals are as smooth as silk. His phrasing is impeccable. You can understand every beautiful word he says. He has a beautiful instrument and is truly a gift from God. He doesn’t turn the song into a power ballad, but he didn’t need to do that. The song stays soft so he didn’t need to overdo it by singing too loudly on the track.

# 4 – Silver Shadow

The soulful song is from the album As the Band Turns. The track has an r&b and soul sound. The reflective song is about fate and dreams. Barbara Weathers tells a story about someone who is down on their luck and looking for a sign of hope. The “silver shadow” was their hope. The “silver shadow” was a bright spot for her.

Once she saw the shadow, it inspired her to do her best to do better with her life. This is a motivating song for anyone who needs help finding their own way. This is a track that will put you in your feelings. If you need a sign that things will get better, you should play this track. It will make you feel better about life.

This song is very inspirational. Atlantic Starr usually sings love songs so this was a chance for the group to do something different. This took the group out of their comfort zone and we couldn’t be happier about it. They proved they could do different types of songs. We’re here for the message they want to send to the listeners.

The poignant lyrics will give you positive vibes. Barbara Weathers sings lead on this track. She sounds like Diana Ross on this song. She has such a pretty voice and she blends with the music. Her voice is like a musical instrument. She does beautiful runs while she’s singing the song. She belts in the song when she hits the chorus. She as well as the group harmonizes in the chorus. We can’t say enough good things about this track.

# 3 – If Your Heart Isn’t In It

The anthemic song is from the album As the Band Turns. The song has an r&b and soul sound. The heartbreaking song is about a couple who are at a crossroads in their relationship. The relationship isn’t working out because one of them doesn’t want to be in the relationship anymore. They want the person to walk away if they aren’t happy. They want to know if their “heart” isn’t in it. They don’t want to stay in a relationship that is one-sided. This song will hit differently if you are going through a relationship that is ending. They go back and forth about what they would do if their hearts weren’t in the relationship. It makes sense to wonder why they want to stay in a relationship if they wanted to move on.

As soon as the saxophone begins, you already know what’s coming. The music is breathtaking. Atlantic Starr do a fantastic job playing the instruments. The music is just as good as the lyrics. There is a musical pause that gives you a chance to hear them play. This song is perfect for Quiet Storm radio. The song was recorded decades ago, but it still sounds as if it were released today. Every drop of the lyrics was full of soul and feeling. The music is melodic and haunting.

The singing is on point. Barbara Weathers and Wayne Lewis make a great tag team. Here is some trivia about the group. Barbara Weathers and Wayne Lewis said in a documentary they dated each other while she was in the group. Is it possible this song is about them? Speaking of the duo, they sound great on this song. Their voices are magical together. Her soprano vocals were a perfect contrast to his baritone vocals. They belt a lot during the finale of the song. They sleighed this track and you will definitely want to hit the repeat button so you can hear it again.

# 2 – Secret Lovers

The controversial song is from the album As the Band Turns. The track has an r&b and soul beat. The emotional song is about two people who are in love with each other, but can’t be together because they are in relationships with other people. The lovers try to find a way to be together even though there are obstacles keeping them apart. The couple is having an affair. The song is self-explanatory. It’s strange that the group is trying to romanticize an affair. They try to justify their affair by assuming their spouses have lovers too. They don’t come off like good people on this track. In fact, they are basically despicable, but we’re here for the messiness.

The song plays out like the plot of a novel or a movie. You may not like what the characters are doing, but you are captivated by it. When this song comes on the radio you will most likely be thinking of someone. This is the type of song you will enjoy for all of the wrong reasons. It’s a sinful song and it’s a different road for Atlantic Starr to take. They sing about being in love or falling out of love. This track gave them a chance to talk about cheating on someone.

You might want to fasten your seatbelts for the bumpy ride that’s ahead. This track is something else. You know the people are betraying someone, but you can’t help singing along with it. The song does try to put a positive spin on cheating, but they sang it beautifully. Barbara Weathers and David Lewis do a fabulous job selling this song. Their vocals are smooth and silky. They would go on to sing a different type of love song which would become their signature song. We will talk about that song right now.
