Our Top 10 Halestorm songs list presents ten of the best songs from a rock and roll band that has delivered some of the best rock music of the past 20 years. The group hails from the city of Red Lion in the great state of Pennsylvania. The group was initially formed by sister-and-brother combo Lzzy Hale and Arejay Hale when they were both young teenagers. Eventually, the group would add musicians Joe Hottinger on guitar and Josh Smith on bass. The group would take the name Halestorm and become one of the hardest-working bands in the music business. With a powerful rock and roll sound that balances the genres of metal and rock with a bit of pop thrown in occasionally, the group’s central appeal is the incredible vocal power and songwriting skills of Lzzy Hale.

Halestorm released their first major-label studio album in 2009 entitled Halestorm. The group followed up their debut record a few years later with the album The Strange Case Of…. In 2013, Halestorm won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their single “Love Bites (So Do I).” The group returned in 2015 with their third studio album, Into the Wild Life. In 2018, they released Vicious, followed by Back from the Dead in 2022. Halestorm’s sixth studio album, Everest, arrived in 2025. The band remained highly active on the road in 2026, carrying the Everest era into another major year of touring.

# 10 – Freak Like Me

We open our Halestorm songs list with a real heavy rocker entitled “Freak Like Me.” When Lzzy Hale wrote this one, she must have indeed had in mind how effective a song like this would be in concert. The band has always toured heavily, so the concert stage is more of a home to them than anywhere else. “Freak Like Me” is, in essence, the perfect song to get a crowd up and dancing to the music. It’s just a perfect rocker with a great rock and roll attitude. The song “Freak Like Me” would also become the band’s first number-one single on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, reaching the top spot in 2013.

# 9 – I Am the Fire

We change directions right away on this Halestorm songs list. From the full-blown in-your-face rocker “Freak Like Me” to this great song, “I Am the Fire,” which starts out with a tender touch and then, of course, delivers the knockout blow. This one shows off Lzzy Hale’s incredible vocal range. Her vocals are filled with so much energy and passion, topped off with a wide range. She is definitely one of the best rock and roll vocalists to have arrived on the rock scene in the past twenty years.

# 8 – Mz. Hyde

In the number eight spot on our Halestorm list, we turn to this fantastic song, “Mz. Hyde.” This one has a killer metal guitar riff that opens up the song. The band sounds like Black Sabbath in the song’s intro. The song’s sweet verse sets up the listener for a possible sugary song from the band, and then the chorus turns the fantasy into a nightmare, defining the meaning behind the song’s title. The song “Mz. Hyde” was released on the album The Strange Case Of…. The album was released in 2012.

# 7 – Love/Hate Heartbreak

It just seems like every song on this Halestorm songs list keeps getting better and better. The videos for these songs are so stunning. There is no way you could just watch a few seconds of any of these videos. Lzzy Hale is just too mesmerizing as a performer to take your eyes off her. From the song “Love/Hate Heartbreak’s” blistering opening guitar solo through every note Lzzy Hale sings, you will be instantly put under her spell on this fantastic song.

# 6 – Amen

Lzzy Hale and the band change it up a little on this great song titled “Amen.” This one is all about groove, melody, and chord changes. It’s not as loud as many of the band’s other songs but just as heavy in its spirit. And by the end of the song, things pretty much do get heavy. It’s a great anthemic song filled with groove and thunder. The song “Amen” was released on the album Into the Wild Life. It became the second number-one Mainstream Rock single from the album in 2015, following “Apocalyptic.”

# 5 – I Get Off

At the halfway point on our Top 10 Halestorm songs list is the band’s debut single entitled “I Get Off.” If the band wanted to turn heads quickly upon their arrival, they picked the right song and video to do it with. And we will pretty much leave it at that. This one is super hot. The song was released in 2009 on their debut album Halestorm. It became one of the band’s enduring early hits and was eventually certified Platinum by the RIAA.

# 4 – Uncomfortable

In the number four spot on our Halestorm songs list is the excellent track “Uncomfortable.” This is a super-fast tune that reminds us a bit of the classic Queen song “Stone Cold Crazy.” Yet the chorus and the rest of the song take it to an entirely different place. We love this one! “Uncomfortable” was the lead single from the band’s fourth studio album, Vicious. The band on the album featured Lzzy Hale on vocals, guitar, piano, and synths, Arejay Hale on drums and backing vocals, Joe Hottinger on lead guitar, backing vocals, and synths, and Josh Smith on bass, piano, backing vocals, and synths.

# 3 – I Miss the Misery

The following three songs on this Halestorm list are just so killer. On this great song, “I Miss the Misery,” Lzzy Hale delivers one of the best vocal performances of her career. The single “I Miss the Misery” would go on to become one of the band’s most enduring songs and was later certified Platinum by the RIAA.

# 2 – Apocalyptic / Back from the Dead

In the number two spot on our Halestorm songs list is the fantastic track “Apocalyptic.” This one is filled with excellent metal guitar licks in both the guitar parts and Lzzy Hale’s killer vocals. It’s Metal 101, done brilliantly by this fantastic band. We are not the only ones who feel that way because this song, “Apocalyptic,” reached number one on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The song was released as the lead single from their 2015 album Into the Wild Life.

The song “Back from the Dead” stands as the title track from Halestorm’s fifth studio album, released in 2022. This is such powerful stuff. It has Led Zeppelin-meets-Metallica-type intensity. Halestorm is one of the best rock bands to come onto the scene in the past twenty years. All you have to do is take a listen to any of these songs on the list and you will nod your head in agreement.

# 1 – Love Bites (So Do I)

You better check your pulse if this song does not leave you speechless. Coming in at number one on our Halestorm songs list is the spectacular track “Love Bites (So Do I).” Lzzy Hale wastes no time getting straight to the point on this one. This roaring song stands as one of the best rockers released by any band of the 2000s. “Love Bites (So Do I)” was so well written and performed that it earned the band the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance.

The song “Love Bites (So Do I)” was released on the album The Strange Case Of… in 2012. It was released as the lead single from the album. One can hear the influences of bands like Metallica, Anthrax, and so many more legendary metal bands. Nonetheless, despite those influences, there is an incredible air of originality in this band. If there ever was a band we thought this group reminded us of, it would be the band Saraya, which released two albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
