On December 18, 2001, Billie Eilish was born in Los Angeles to a show business family. Her older brother Finneas O’Connell is also an actor and singer, and he helped produce all of Billie’s songs and sing back-up vocals for “Ocean Eyes.” Born into a family of musicians, Billie grew up around music her entire life. She got her to start singing at open mic nights in L.A., where she lived for five years before moving back to Ireland with family after landing a deal with Darkroom Records in 2015. Billie Eilish says she uses “I” when writing songs because many of her lyrics are based on personal experience.

Billie Eilish was only 15 years old when her brother wrote and produced an E.P. for her called “Don’t Smile at Me” that features dark tracks like “Six Feet Under,” in which Billie bluntly proclaims, “People say I’m so pretty but so fake/ They think I’m built from sugar, but I’m built from the bleach.” The record also includes a track called “Ocean Eyes,” which is about seeing someone cry for the first time.

Billie Eilish released another E.P. in 2016 called When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? At just 16 years old, Billie made music about death and heartbreak, a far cry from your typical teenage sound. The E.P. earned her a deal with Interscope Records, and she’s been busy recording a full-length album ever since.

Billie Eilish dropped two new singles in May 2017: “You Should See Me in a Crown” and “Bury a Friend.” Both songs are equally moody, but fans can’t get enough of them. The tracks already have millions of plays on Spotify. On January 14, 2020, she was announced as a performer of the “title track” for the 25th installment in the “James Bond film franchise, No Time to Die,” written and produced by her brother. To know more about your favorite young celebrity, here are 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Billie Eilish:

#1) She accidentally became famous overnight.

The young artist was uploading some of her songs to SoundCloud in 2015 when she started getting hundreds of thousands of listens on some of the tracks. A few months later, she’d become one of the most popular artists on the platform. The youngest person to have a debut song on Spotify’s ‘Global Viral 50’ list, it wasn’t long before record labels came calling.

#2)Her brother, Finneas, helps her make her music.

Billie Eilish writes all her songs and is extremely talented at playing guitar and multiple other instruments. She also has an older brother called Finneas O’Connell, who co-producer all of her music. The two of them collaborate to make the songs she puts on her channel; he’ll bring some backing tracks to the recording sessions, and they’ll work together to create something perfect for her voice.

#3) Billie’s know for her streetwear-like style.

Her age is likely why she dresses in baggy clothing; this was done deliberately as it means that people don’t focus on anything other than her music, rather than what she looks like or how much skin she’s showing off. This is an unusual style choice for any artist at a stage where they’re to promote themselves and get noticed, but it’s a choice that has worked in her favor, and no doubt helped her gain the following she has.

#4) She has Tourettes Syndrome.

Billie Eilish was diagnosed with Tourettes when she was just 11 years old. It’s only thanks to this diagnosis that she’s known about her condition, as most people who suffer from it are unaware of what they’re doing during episodes, unlike Billie Eilish, who is very aware of her actions at all times. She isn’t bothered by it, though; being an artist herself means that she knows how to use the tics to give life to lyrics or help generate ideas for melodies.

#5) She’s a hardcore Belieber

As any true fan of Justin Bieber will know, he’s one of the most successful pop artists on the planet – so it’s no surprise that she’s a dedicated fan. He was her first celebrity crush back in 2010, and every day since then, she would have a daily prayer that he would notice her music. As of talking to Seventeen magazine earlier this year, there has been no reply – however, Bieber did recently record his cover of her song ‘Lovely.’

#6) She was homeschooled

Billie Eilish started high school when she was 11. However, like many young stars making their name at such an early age (Justin Bieber comes to mind), she chose to be homeschooled to avoid the distractions and the pressures of fitting in with a social group. Billie Eilish was lucky enough to have her tutor at home, which meant that she could continue learning and attending lessons without having to adjust her day-to-day life.

#7)Billie’s been writing music since she was 11

Billie Eilish started writing songs early on in her life, but one of them became successful until she was just 13 years old. She had written ‘Ocean Eyes,’ which would later feature on her debut E.P. alongside another song called ‘Copycat.’ Both tracks went on to amass millions of views online and put Billie Eilish on the map as an artist worth following.

#8) She’s vegan

Being vegan, Billie Eilish has decided not to eat meat or dairy products;making her one of the many celebrities who choose to follow this lifestyle. This is largely due to her concerns about how animals are treated to produce food for humans; she often posts on social media about what an important issue she feels it is and encourages fans to share their thoughts on this topic. Billie Eilish also recently collaborated with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) on a campaign that encouraged people to go vegetarian at least once per week.

#9) She was in a children’s choir

Billie Eilish started learning how to sing when she was just 7 years old and went on to join a children’s choir. She performed at the Hollywood Bowl with her fellow singers, which marked an important turning point for Billie Eilish as she realized that the music industry – and being a singer – was what she wanted to pursue as a career.

#10) She’s obsessed with The Office

Billie Eilish is a massive fan of one of America’s most popular shows, “The Office.” It’s unclear why it holds such a special place in her heart, but this show has been referenced numerous times within her work. In an interview with InStyle magazine, Billie Eilish said: ‘I’ve watched all of The Office four times.” This might be because there are some parallels between her life growing up with Tourettes and the character of Michael Scott.

Conclusion:

Billie Eilish is a rising star in the music industry. She has been nominated for many awards and received critical acclaim from some of the most respected publications.
