Taylor Swift’s new video for her song “All Too Well,” was released this weekend as an early holiday gift to her long time and loyal fans. This is no ordinary music video. The clip stands at thirteen minutes long and in reality is a short film as opposed to a traditional music video. The mini film stars actors Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. The video is all about a romance and everything that goes along with it. It starts out during the wonderful honeymoon time period of a blossoming romance where they are actually asking each other if they both are real because they are so happy. However, it doesn’t take too long before things start to go bad. We have all been through that. Why can’t that honeymoon period last? Well, In the video that honeymoon period starts to fall apart rather quickly as they begin to argue already at the three minute mark. Of course there is the traditional make up which happens very quickly and then more arguments to follow, more make ups, and the roller coaster of romance continues until it finally all falls apart.
The video for “All Too Well,” then jumps ahead in time actually thirteen years later in which we see Taylor Swift playing a grown-up version of the Sadie Sink character. The video’s story of a passionate love affair that burns out just as quick as it is ignited is also represented in the open screen snippet that reads “Love is so short, forgetting is so long.” That very popular line among today’s youth is from the Pablo Neruda poem Tonight I Can Write The Saddest Lines.
The new Taylor Swift video was filmed in response to her fans always writing her and reacting on social media about how much they love the song “All Too Well.” The song had never been originally released as a single nor was it ever intended to be released as a single. Taylor Swift understands the importance of her loyal fans who have bought her so much success over the years. The audio portion of the song is also being released in a 10 minute version on her reissue of her famous album entitled Red.
Taylor Swift’s Red album was originally released in 2012. It was a highly successful record that featured the hit single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Again.” It is one of the most loved Taylor Swift albums ever released. However, because her masters were sold, Taylor Swift has been re-recording all her albums so that she can own her own master recordings. Pretty smart move. To get away with that legally, besides re-recording all the songs, she is also releasing her old albums in deluxe editions and expanding them. The release of Red includes 30 songs. The Red album also includes duets with Ed Sheeran, Phoebe Bridgers and Chris Stapleton. Talk about a wonderful holiday gift for her fans.
Taylor Swift intends to be successful with these new releases and she’s doing all the promotional stops to ensure that. Although she probably doesn’t have to do anything as her fans will just buy anything she releases. She performed the song “All Too Well,” on the show while the video clip played in the background. Instead of doing multiple performances throughout the show like most musical artist have done throughout the course of Saturday Night Live’s lives history, Taylor Swift only appeared on the show once as a musical artist. She did also appear in a skit with Pete Davidson who it seems all women love. What is it about Pete Davidson that makes women go gaga over him?
The video for Taylor Swift’s “All I Know,” was released only three days ago and in less than 72 hours has almost 30,000,000 views and 100,000 comments. If there ever was a female recording artist loved by her fans more than anyone else, it is easily Taylor Swift
