The Rolling Stones are back baby. The Rolling Stones have just released their brand new single entitled “Angry.” It’s amazing that in 2023 the band still sounds like they did in the late seventies. If we had said in the 1970s that the Rolling Stones would still be releasing new music 45 to 50 years later that still sounded just as good as anything on Some Girls we would have said no way. The Rolling Stones’ new single “Angry,” has a bit of a “Start Me Up,” vibe to it. But you know what, I kind of like this one even better. I was not expecting something this good. Unlike many critics, I’ve never been disappointed by any Rolling Stones album. However, this one cut has me really excited to hear the new album.
We covered a lot of the story behind The Rolling Stones’ new album Hackney Diamonds in this morning’s news, but upon just hearing the new single we needed to write a little bit more about one of our favorite bands of all time. Like most music fans in the modern world, we got our first listen to the new single on YouTube. Sadly there are fewer stations on the FM dial now playing rock music. That’s where we used to hear new music all the time. Now it’s YouTube. And of course, we’ve placed the brand new Rolling Stones single “Angry,” below in case you haven’t heard it before.
The video is brilliant. It features actress Sydney Sweeney rocking out down the boulevard in a red convertible. Sydney Sweeny recently appeared in the hit television show White Lotus. She also appeared on the big screen in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Wearing typical female rocker clothes, Sydney Sweeney lights up the screen big time. The video is brilliantly directed as it features billboards presenting the Stones singing the new song from different periods of their musical career. This is what we call using technology as a true artist from the director’s standpoint.
“Angry,” features all the characteristics of a great Rolling Stone song. It’s fueled by a very iconic sounding Keith Richards riff. It features great soloing by Ronnie Wood and of course a killer vocal performance by Mick Jagger who sounds like he’s twenty years old on the track.  The track “Angry,” stands as the opening cut on the brand new Rolling Stones album to be released on October 20th. Yeah baby! That’s what I’m talking about!
