I Prevail was formed in Southfield, Michigan, in 2013. The band first gained recognition through a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” that quickly went viral, establishing a solid fanbase through social media and video streaming platforms. I Prevail’s music blends elements of metalcore, pop punk, and alternative metal, making them known for their melodic intensity and engaging live performances. The band has released several albums, with Trauma (2019) and True Power (2022) being among their most notable. Their work has received critical acclaim and commercial success, leading to nominations for Grammy Awards and wins at other music awards. I Prevail is also noted for their thematic exploration of mental health, resilience, and personal struggle within their lyrics.

Brian Burkheiser

Brian Burkheiser is one of the founding members of I Prevail and serves as the clean vocalist. He has been with the band since its formation in 2013 and has played a key role in all their studio albums, including their debut EP Heart vs. Mind (2014) and their breakthrough album Lifelines (2016). Brian’s voice is crucial in balancing the band’s sound with his melodic approach, contrasting with the harsher vocals provided by his bandmate. Beyond his contributions to I Prevail, Brian has been relatively focused on the band, dedicating his career to its development and outreach.

Eric Vanlerberghe

Eric Vanlerberghe, also a founding member, is known for his unclean vocals and occasional rapping, bringing a dynamic and aggressive element to I Prevail’s music. He has been instrumental across all their releases, contributing significantly to the band’s energetic performances and recordings. Eric’s vocal style is a hallmark of the band’s identity, particularly evident in tracks like “Scars” and “Bow Down.” His performance continues to define the band’s sound in the heavy music scene.

Steve Menoian

Steve Menoian is the lead guitarist and one of the original members of I Prevail. He has been a key songwriter and the primary composer for the band, contributing to the intricate guitar work that defines much of their music. Steve’s contributions can be heard throughout I Prevail’s discography, from their early EP to their latest album, True Power. His technical skills and creative direction have helped shape the band’s musical style and success.

Dylan Bowman

Dylan Bowman joined I Prevail in 2015 as the rhythm guitarist. Since joining, he has been part of the recording process for Lifelines and subsequent albums. Dylan’s rhythm guitar plays a critical role in the band’s sound, providing the heavy riffs and backing that complement Steve’s lead guitar. He has also contributed to the writing process, helping to craft the band’s evolving sound.

Gabe Helguera

Gabe Helguera joined I Prevail as the drummer in 2016. He brought new energy to the band’s rhythm section and has been featured in both studio recordings and live performances since his joining. Gabe’s drumming is featured prominently on the album Trauma, where his skills enhanced the band’s dynamic range and intensity. His drumming style has become integral to the band’s aggressive yet polished sound.

Past Members

Jordan Berger

Jordan Berger was a session and touring member with I Prevail, contributing primarily as a backing vocalist and additional guitarist. His time with the band was relatively short, focusing on live performances rather than studio recordings.

Tony Camposeo

Tony Camposeo was involved with I Prevail during their early days, playing bass guitar. Tony contributed to the Heart vs. Mind EP but left the band before their first full-length album was recorded. His work laid the groundwork for the band’s initial sound and stage presence.

Lee Runestad

Lee Runestad was the original drummer for I Prevail and played on their debut EP Heart vs. Mind and the Lifelines album. Lee’s drumming was crucial in the early development of the band’s sound but he left in 2016. His departure was amicable, with the band seeking a new direction for their rhythm section that aligned with their evolving musical ambitions
