Chariot (2003)

Gavin DeGraw’s debut album, Chariot, was released by J Records and became his breakthrough into mainstream music, blending pop rock, soul, and singer-songwriter influences. The album was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood and produced by Mark Endert, with DeGraw’s piano-based melodies and soulful vocals at the center of the record.

DeGraw handled lead vocals, piano, and guitar, while the sessions also featured musicians including Joey Waronker on drums, Chris Chaney on bass, and Rusty Anderson on guitar. Chariot peaked at No. 56 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. A stripped-down companion edition, Chariot – Stripped, followed with acoustic performances of the songs.

Gavin DeGraw (2008)

Released May 6, 2008

Gavin DeGraw’s self-titled second studio album was released through J Records and continued his success in pop rock while presenting a larger, more polished production than his debut. The album was produced by Howard Benson and recorded at several California studios, including Bay 7 Studios, Sparky Dark, and Sunset Sound Factory.

DeGraw performed lead vocals, piano, and guitar, with musicians including Phil X on guitar, Chris Chaney on bass, and Kenny Aronoff on drums. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and included “In Love with a Girl,” which became another major hit for DeGraw.

Free (2009)

Released March 31, 2009

Free was Gavin DeGraw’s third studio album, released by J Records less than a year after his self-titled record. The album moved away from the polished production of its predecessor toward a looser, more intimate singer-songwriter sound. It was recorded at Vel Records in New York and produced by Camus Celli and Gavin DeGraw.

The standard album contains nine songs, including a reworking of “Young Love” from the previous album and a cover of Chris Whitley’s “Indian Summer.” DeGraw’s vocals and piano remain at the center of the record, supported by a smaller-scale acoustic and roots-oriented approach. Free peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200.

Sweeter (2011)

Released September 20, 2011

Sweeter was released by RCA Records and marked a return to a fuller pop-rock sound. DeGraw worked with several producers and collaborators on the album, including Ryan Tedder, Ron Aniello, Butch Walker, Eric Rosse, and Andrew Frampton, broadening the production palette while retaining his piano-driven songwriting style.

The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and included “Not Over You,” one of DeGraw’s most successful singles, which reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Sweeter also marked a significant expansion of DeGraw’s collaborative songwriting, with several tracks co-written alongside outside writers.

Make a Move (2013)

Make a Move, Gavin DeGraw’s fifth studio album, was released in the United States by RCA Records. The record found DeGraw working with a wide range of producers and writers, including Ryan Tedder, Butch Walker, Benny Blanco, Martin Johnson, busbee, Kevin Rudolf, and others, giving the album a more contemporary pop-rock sound.

The album peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and included the singles “Best I Ever Had” and “Make a Move.” The standard U.S. edition contains eleven songs and closes with “Leading Man.”

Something Worth Saving (2016)

Gavin DeGraw’s sixth studio album, Something Worth Saving, was released by RCA Records. Recorded in several U.S. cities including Miami, Los Angeles, and Nashville, the album expanded DeGraw’s sound through pop, soul, funk, and other influences. Production was handled across the album by several producers, including Butch Walker, Gregg Wattenberg, Dave Bassett, Johan Carlsson, John Shanks, and Ricky Reed.

The album peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard 200 and included the single “She Sets the City on Fire.” DeGraw wrote two of the album’s songs by himself, “Making Love with the Radio On” and the title track, while collaborating with other writers throughout the rest of the record.

Face the River (2022)

Face the River, Gavin DeGraw’s seventh studio album, was released by RCA Records. The deeply personal record was inspired by his late parents and centers on family, grief, resilience, and the lessons they left behind. The album was recorded at RCA Studio A in Nashville and produced by Dave Cobb.

The album reunited DeGraw’s soulful pop-rock writing with a warmer roots-oriented production style. DeGraw wrote all ten songs, including the title track, “Freedom (Johnny’s Song),” “Hero in Our House,” and “Let Someone In.”

Chariot 20 (2024)

Released September 27, 2024

Chariot 20 is Gavin DeGraw’s full-length reimagining of his 2003 debut album. Produced by Dave Cobb, the project features newly recorded versions of all eleven songs from Chariot and reunites DeGraw with the roots-oriented production approach Cobb brought to Face the River.

The album also includes two previously unreleased songs written during the original Chariot sessions, “Get Lost” and “Love Is Stronger (Alright).” It was released through G. DeGraw Music under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment.
