Jack White’s career has always been guided by a deep respect for the roots of rock and an unrelenting drive to push the music somewhere new. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, White’s fascination with music began early. He taught himself to play instruments and was drawn to the raw spirit of blues, garage rock, and early rock and roll. Before the world knew his name, he worked as an upholsterer, a trade that influenced the work ethic and visual character he would later bring to his music. That restless creativity found its most famous early outlet when he teamed with drummer Meg White to form The White Stripes in 1997.

The White Stripes became one of the most important rock acts of the early 2000s, with their minimalist setup producing a sound that felt far bigger than the sum of its parts. Their self-titled 1999 debut introduced listeners to a stripped-down style built on distorted guitar, forceful drums, and emotional directness. By the release of White Blood Cells in 2001, the band had broken through internationally. Two years later, Elephant solidified their place in rock history through songs including “Seven Nation Army,” whose central riff became one of the most recognizable in modern music.

White had also established two successful collaborative bands before The White Stripes formally ended in 2011. The Raconteurs, formed with Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler, released albums including Broken Boy Soldiers and Consolers of the Lonely. The Dead Weather, featuring Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita, and Lawrence, pursued a darker and heavier approach on records including Horehound and Sea of Cowards. Both groups demonstrated White’s ability to work inside a shared creative structure without losing his distinctive musical identity.

White began his solo album career with Blunderbuss in 2012. The record debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and introduced a body of work that could move between blues, folk, country, garage rock, and carefully arranged piano-driven songs. Lazaretto followed in 2014, with its title track earning the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance. His 2018 album, Boarding House Reach, pushed into electronic textures, funk, spoken-word passages, and unconventional studio construction.

In 2022, White released two contrasting albums. Fear of the Dawn emphasized distorted guitars, rhythmic experimentation, and dense production, while Entering Heaven Alive favored acoustic instrumentation and more reflective songwriting. The surprise release No Name arrived in 2024 and returned to a direct, forceful rock sound. The album later received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.

White released his seventh solo studio album, Frozen Charlotte, in July 2026. Recorded with Patrick Keeler, Dominic Davis, and Bobby Emmett, the thirteen-song album included “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs,” “Derecho Demonico,” “Dollar Bill,” “Nobody Knows,” and “Neighbors Blues.” The record extended the raw, guitar-centered direction of No Name while adding another full chapter to White’s solo catalog.

Throughout his career, White has received twelve Grammy Awards across his work as a performer, songwriter, producer, and packaging designer. In 2009, he founded Third Man Records, which grew into a record label, studio, performance space, retail operation, and vinyl-pressing enterprise. Its analog-first approach reflects White’s longstanding commitment to physical media, recording history, and the craft involved in presenting music as an object as well as a sound.

White has also contributed to film soundtracks, recordings by other artists, archival music projects, and collaborations that cross generations and genres. The list below is limited to his solo studio albums and related solo releases, including officially issued B-sides, demos, soundtrack recordings, and standalone singles. It does not include songs recorded as a member of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, or The Dead Weather.
