Toni Braxton became one of the defining voices of 1990s R&B, establishing a career built around one of the most distinctive voices in popular music. Born in Severn, Maryland, Braxton grew up in a religious household where she and her sisters sang gospel music. The sisters eventually formed The Braxtons and released the 1990 single “Good Life.” Toni’s deep, smoky voice soon attracted the attention of Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. That connection led her to LaFace Records and the beginning of a solo career that would make her an international star and a seven-time Grammy Award winner.
Braxton’s first major solo exposure came through the 1992 soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy film Boomerang. “Love Shoulda Brought You Home” and her Babyface duet “Give U My Heart” introduced her voice to a large audience before the release of her self-titled debut album in 1993. Toni Braxton became a massive success and produced such memorable songs as “Another Sad Love Song,” “Breathe Again,” “Seven Whole Days,” and “You Mean the World to Me.” Her combination of contemporary R&B, pop, soul, and adult contemporary music helped separate her from many of the other major singers of the era.
The 1996 album Secrets pushed Braxton’s career even further with “You’re Makin’ Me High,” “Let It Flow,” and the enormous Diane Warren-written ballad “Un-Break My Heart.” She continued to evolve throughout the following decades with albums including The Heat, More Than a Woman, Libra, and Pulse. Her catalog moved easily between dramatic ballads, contemporary R&B, dance music, holiday recordings, and collaborations with artists from hip-hop, jazz, pop, and soul.
Braxton later reunited creatively with Babyface for the 2014 collaborative album Love, Marriage & Divorce, followed by Sex & Cigarettes in 2018 and her tenth studio album, Spell My Name, in 2020. Her recordings outside her regular albums have also become an important part of her catalog, ranging from soundtrack appearances and Christmas recordings to collaborations with Kenny G, Michael McDonald, Il Divo, KEM, Jam & Lewis, H.E.R., Missy Elliott, and Kehlani. In 2025, Braxton joined Kehlani on “Folded (Remix).”
The alphabetical list below focuses on recordings released under Toni Braxton’s name, songs on which she is a credited featured or collaborative artist, soundtrack and charity appearances, officially released bonus tracks, and selected alternate-language and duet versions. Recordings credited solely to The Braxtons as a group and unreleased demos or leaked material are outside the scope of this list.
