Blood Sweat & Tears first album featured Al Kooper keys and vocals, Steve Katz on guitar, lute,& vocals, Randy Brecker on trumpet & flugelhorn, Jerry Weiss on trumpet, flugelhorn, & vocals, Dick Halligan on trombone, Fred Lipsius on piano & alto saxophone, Bobby Colomby on drums & vocals and Jim Fielder on bass.

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Released December 11, 1968

Blood, Sweat & Tears second album featured the debut of lead vocalist David Clayton Thomas. It would become one of the bands most successful albums fueled by some of the group’s biggest hit singles of their career. The album also featured Chuck Winfield and Lew Soloff  on trumpet & flugelhorn, Fred Lipsius on alto saxophone & piano,
Jerry Hyman on trombone &  recorder, Steve Katz on guitar, harmonica & vocals,Jim Fielder on bass, Dick Halligan -on organ, piano, flute & trombone and Bobby Colomby on drums & percussion.

Released June 1970

Blood, Sweat & Tears third album featured David Clayton Thomas on lead vocals, Fred Lipsius, on sax, Jerry Hyman on trombone, Steve Katz on guitar, Jim Fielder on bass, Dick Halligan on keys and Bobby Colomby on drums & percussion.

New Blood

Released October 1972

On the band’s fifth album Jerry Fisher replaced David Clayton Thomas on lead vocals. Lou Marini Jr. joined the group on horns. The rest of the group featured Chuck Winfield, Lewis Soloff on trumpet, Dave Bargeron on trombone Steve Katz on guitar, George Wadenius on guitar, Jim Fielder on bass, Dick Halligan on keys & trombone, Boccy Doyle on piano and Bobby Colomby on drums & percussion.

No Sweat

Released August 1973

Blood Sweat & Tears sixth album featured a memorable cover and the largest group of musicians there ever put on vinyl. The album featured Jerry Fisher on lead vocals, George Wadenius  and Steve Katz on guitars, David Hentschel on synth, Jim Felder on bass and Bobby Colomby on drums, Frank Ricotti and Jimmy Maelen on percussion  completed the rhythm section. The horn section consisted of Larry Willis, Lew Soloff, Dave Bargeron,Lou Marini,Jr.Chuck Winfield, and Tom Malone. Maretha Stewart, Valerie Simpson and Joshie Armstead sang backing vocals. String arrangements were conducted by Paul Buckmaster .

Mirror Image

Released 1974

Blood Sweat & Tears becomes very much a new band on their 1974 release. The album features almost a completely new lineup of musicians including new bass player Ron McClure along with aiothere new members such as William Tillman and Jerry LaCroix on saxophones, Anthony J. Klatka on trumpet, Robert Mason and Larry Willis on keys, Warren Smith,Ralph MacDonald, and Dom Um Romao on Percussion. Returning members included longtime drummer Bobby Colomby as well as George Wadenius on guitar and  David Bargeron on brass.

Blood Sweat & Tears New City was a bug albums for old school Blood Sweat & Tears fans as it featured the return of David Clayton Thomas on vocals. Also on the album were Dave Bargeron, Joe Giorgianni, Tony Klatka, Bill Tillman, Bobby Colomby, Larry Willis, Ron McClure, Bill Tillman, Georg Wadenius and Mike Corbett.

Released 1976

David Clayton-Thomas returns once again on lead vocals. The album also featured one of our favorite guitarists of all time ina very young Mike Stern. Also on the albums were Tony Klatka  and Forest Buchtell on trumpet, Don Alias on percussion, Larry Willis on keyboards, Danny Trifan on bass, Bill Tillman on tenor saxophone, Dave Bargeron on trombone, and the great Bobby Colomby on drums

The band’s second to last album featured a mix of old and new musicians including vocalist David Clayton Thomas. Also on the album were musicians Mike Stern on guitar, Larry Willis on keyboards, Bill Tillman on tenor saxophone, Dave Bargeron on trombone, Tony Klatka and Forest Buchtell on trumpet, Danny Trifan on bass and Bobby Colomby on drums.

Released 1980

The final Blood Sweat & Tears album was released at the dawn of the 1980s. It is the only Blood Sweat & Tears album to not feature Bobby Colomby on drums. The drumming chair was turned over to Bobby Economou for the album.  The album featured David Clayton-Thomas on vocals and and all new cast of players including Robert Piltch on guitar,David Piltch on bass, Richard Martinez on keys, Bruce Cassidy  on trumpet, Earl Seymour and Vern Dorge on sax.
