Alex Kapranos
Alex Kapranos is the lead vocalist and guitarist of Franz Ferdinand. He is one of the founding members and has been a critical figure in the band’s direction and success. Kapranos is known for his charismatic stage presence and distinctive voice. His songwriting is a significant component of the band’s appeal, often reflecting sharp wit and a keen sense of melody. Kapranos has played on all of Franz Ferdinand’s albums, contributing not just to the music but also to much of the production. Outside of Franz Ferdinand, he has worked as a record producer for other bands and written a regular food column for The Guardian newspaper.
Bob Hardy
Bob Hardy is the bassist for Franz Ferdinand, joining the band at its inception. His bass lines are an integral part of the band’s rhythm section, underpinning their danceable rock sound. Hardy’s playing features prominently on all the band’s major releases, providing a solid foundation for their music. In addition to his work with Franz Ferdinand, Hardy has engaged in artistic pursuits, including photography, which has been featured in exhibitions and relates closely to the band’s aesthetic in album art and visuals.
Julian Corrie
Julian Corrie joined Franz Ferdinand in 2017, ahead of the Always Ascending album. A multi-instrumentalist, Corrie brought a fresh dynamic to the band, playing keyboards, synthesizer, and guitar. His addition marked a new chapter in the band’s evolution, helping to steer their sound towards a more electronic and synth-oriented direction. Corrie’s previous experience as a musician and producer under the name Miaoux Miaoux provided him with the skills to contribute effectively to the band’s development.
Dino Bardot
Dino Bardot joined Franz Ferdinand at the same time as Julian Corrie in 2017, taking on the role of guitarist. Bardot, who was previously part of the Scottish indie band 1990s, brought a new energy and guitar finesse to the group. His involvement in Always Ascending added depth to the band’s guitar-driven tracks, complementing their established style while also pushing their sound in new directions.
Audrey Tait
Audrey Tait joined Franz Ferdinand in 2022, becoming the band’s drummer after the departure of Paul Thomson, who had been with the band since its early days. Tait, known for her work with other Scottish bands and as a music producer, brought a new rhythmic flair to Franz Ferdinand. Her drumming skills will be showcased in the band’s future projects and performances, expected to continue the band’s tradition of energetic and compelling music.
