Garbage is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin. The band consists of Scottish singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig. Vig is notably one of rock’s most prolific producers, having produced seminal albums such as Nirvana’s Nevermind. Garbage is known for their fusion of alternative rock with electronic music, a sound that garnered them considerable success throughout the 1990s and 2000s. They debuted with their self-titled album in 1995, which was critically acclaimed and sold over four million copies worldwide. To date, Garbage has released seven studio albums, including a greatest hits collection and several live albums.
