Greta Van Fleet formed in 2012 in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The band was founded by twin brothers Josh and Jake Kiszka, their younger brother Sam Kiszka, and original drummer Kyle Hauck. Danny Wagner replaced Hauck in 2013, establishing the lineup of Josh, Jake, Sam, and Danny that continues today. Greta Van Fleet has released three studio albums: Anthem of the Peaceful Army (2018), The Battle at Garden’s Gate (2021), and Starcatcher (2023), along with EPs including Black Smoke Rising and From the Fires. Their fourth studio album, Palace for the People, is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026. Known for their energetic performances and classic rock influence, Greta Van Fleet has received both critical acclaim and commercial success. The band won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album for From the Fires in 2019, while Starcatcher later earned another nomination in the same category.
Josh Kiszka
Josh Kiszka, the lead vocalist of Greta Van Fleet, has been with the band since its formation. His powerful vocals are a defining feature of the band’s sound, reminiscent of rock singers from the 1970s. Josh has contributed to all the band’s major releases, playing a significant role in their debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, and subsequent albums including Anthem of the Peaceful Army, The Battle at Garden’s Gate, and Starcatcher. His stage presence and vocal prowess have been central to the band’s identity and success.
Jake Kiszka
Jake Kiszka, one of Greta Van Fleet’s founding members, is the guitarist. His riff-driven guitar work and solos are key components of the band’s music, heavily influenced by classic rock. Jake has appeared on all the band’s recordings and is known for his dynamic performances in both the studio and live shows. His guitar style has been a cornerstone in defining the band’s sound across their discography.
Sam Kiszka
Sam Kiszka plays bass and keyboards for Greta Van Fleet, contributing to the band’s rich, multi-layered soundscapes. Like his brothers, he has been with the band since the beginning. Sam’s versatility is showcased across the band’s albums, providing both the rhythmic backbone and atmospheric depth to their music. His performance is particularly notable on tracks from The Battle at Garden’s Gate, where his keyboard work adds a new dimension to their sound.

Danny Wagner
Danny Wagner, the drummer for Greta Van Fleet, joined the band after replacing original drummer Kyle Hauck in 2013. Wagner’s drumming is integral to the band’s energetic and powerful live performances. He has played on all their major releases, starting from the Black Smoke Rising EP through Starcatcher. Wagner’s drumming combines classic rock influences with a contemporary edge, contributing significantly to the band’s musical evolution and critical acclaim.

Kyle Hauck
Kyle Hauck was the original drummer and one of the founding members of Greta Van Fleet, playing with the group from 2012 until 2013. He was part of the band’s earliest recordings and performances before Danny Wagner replaced him on drums. Hauck was also involved in the circumstances that led to the band adopting the name Greta Van Fleet, inspired by Frankenmuth resident Gretna Van Fleet.
