Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds was formed by Noel Gallagher, the former lead guitarist and primary songwriter of the iconic British rock band Oasis, following their split in 2009. The project hails from Manchester, England, and began taking shape in 2010 before being officially announced in 2011. Noel Gallagher has remained the consistent frontman and driving force, working with changing groups of recording and touring musicians over the years. Early contributors included Mike Rowe on keyboards, Jeremy Stacey on drums, and percussionist Lenny Castro, while the first touring lineup also included bassist Russell Pritchard and guitarist Tim Smith.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds has released four studio albums: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (2011), Chasing Yesterday (2015), Who Built the Moon? (2017), and Council Skies (2023). The first three studio albums all reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, while Council Skies peaked at number two. The project has also released several EPs and the 2021 retrospective collection Back the Way We Came: Vol. 1 (2011–2021), which also reached number one in the UK. Chasing Yesterday won the Q Award for Best Album in 2015. As of August 31, 2026, Council Skies remains the most recent Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds studio album.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is the debut album by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It marked Noel Gallagher’s first studio album since leaving Oasis, blending rock, pop, and orchestral elements. Recorded in London and Los Angeles between 2010 and 2011, the album was produced by Noel Gallagher and Dave Sardy.

The album featured Noel Gallagher on lead vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards, with Mike Rowe on keyboards, Jeremy Stacey on drums, and additional musicians including Mark Neary, Lenny Castro, the Wired Strings, and the Crouch End Festival Chorus. Chasing Yesterday (2015)

Chasing Yesterday is the second studio album by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It continues the band’s exploration of rock with elements of jazz and psychedelic music. The album was recorded at Strangeways and Abbey Road Studios in London between 2012 and 2014. Noel Gallagher produced the album himself.

The album featured Noel Gallagher on lead vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards, Jeremy Stacey on drums, Mike Rowe on keyboards, Paul Stacey on bass and guitar, and additional musicians including saxophonist and bass clarinetist Jim Hunt. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and reached number thirty-five on the Billboard 200 in the United States.

Who Built the Moon? is the third studio album by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. It features a more experimental sound with influences from electronic music, psychedelia, and dance. David Holmes produced the album.

Noel Gallagher performed lead vocals, guitars, and keyboards, alongside Jason Falkner, Jeremy Stacey, Emre Ramazanoglu, and Mike Rowe, with guest appearances from Paul Weller and Johnny Marr. The album reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number forty-eight on the Billboard 200 in the United States.

Council Skies is the fourth studio album by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The album returns to a more melodic rock sound while incorporating folk, psychedelic, and orchestral elements. Much of the album was recorded at Noel Gallagher’s Lone Star Sound studio in London, with string sessions recorded at Abbey Road Studios. The album was produced by Noel Gallagher and Paul Stacey.

The album featured Noel Gallagher on lead vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards, with contributions from Mike Rowe, Russell Pritchard, Chris Sharrock, Gem Archer, Jeremy Stacey, Paul Stacey, and Johnny Marr, among many others. Council Skies peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart. It did not enter the Billboard 200, although it reached number twenty on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in the United States.
