Panic! At The Disco approached every album as though the stage had been rebuilt overnight. Cabaret electronics, psychedelic pop, neon synths, brass-heavy showmanship, and guitar-driven rock all passed through the same name, held together by an instinct for spectacle and a chorus designed to arrive with the curtain already rising. This A-to-Z guide follows that transformation through studio albums, soundtrack recordings, bonus tracks, demos, remixes, live performances, covers, and the archival releases that returned the band’s earliest era to the spotlight.

Panic! At The Disco formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2004 after Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith began playing together and recruited Brent Wilson and Brendon Urie. Urie was initially brought in as a guitarist, but his voice soon moved him into the lead-vocal role. The young band sent its demos to Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, who signed the group to his Decaydance imprint before Panic! had built a traditional local touring history.
A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out arrived in 2005 and introduced a theatrical mixture of pop-punk, electronic programming, baroque arrangements, and densely written lyrics. “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” became the breakthrough hit, while “The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage,” “Camisado,” and “Build God, Then We’ll Talk” established the album as more than a single-song phenomenon.
Pretty. Odd. replaced much of the debut’s electronic tension with orchestration, harmonies, and psychedelic pop. Ryan Ross and Jon Walker departed after that album, leaving Urie and Smith to make Vices & Virtues. Dallon Weekes then became part of the recording lineup for Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, an album shaped by synthesizers, Las Vegas imagery, and songs including “Miss Jackson,” “This Is Gospel,” and “Girls / Girls / Boys.”
By the time Death of a Bachelor appeared, Panic! At The Disco had become Brendon Urie’s principal creative vehicle. The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 and moved between modern pop-rock, theatrical brass arrangements, and Urie’s admiration for classic vocal showmanship. Pray for the Wicked followed with “High Hopes,” “Hey Look Ma, I Made It,” “Say Amen (Saturday Night),” and “Dying in LA.”
Viva Las Vengeance returned to a live-band recording approach and drew heavily from glam rock, power pop, and the strain of a life spent performing. Urie later announced that Panic! At The Disco would end after the album’s touring cycle so he could focus on his family, bringing the continuous run of the project to a close.
The name briefly returned for an anniversary performance of A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out in Las Vegas. That celebration was followed by the first full digital release of Live in Denver and a twentieth-anniversary edition of the debut containing eleven demos. The archival releases added a substantial group of officially available alternate and live recordings to the catalog.
Panic! At The Disco also built a significant body of music beyond the seven studio albums. The band recorded songs for Jennifer’s Body, Batman: Arkham City, Suicide Squad, Frozen II, and tribute projects, while issuing standalone collaborations, holiday recordings, remixes, expanded editions, and live releases.
The catalog’s durability comes from its refusal to remain stylistically fixed. Whether the recording centers on Ryan Ross’s elaborate wordplay, Spencer Smith’s drumming, Dallon Weekes’s bass and writing contributions, or Brendon Urie’s increasingly expansive arrangements, Panic! At The Disco consistently treated pop and rock as forms of theater rather than separate genres.
