Puddle of Mudd was formed in 1991. The band hails from Kansas City, MO. The band’s major-label debut album, Come Clean, was released in 2001. They became known very qucily beices of the hit song “Blurry.” Their blend of post-grunge and alternative rock resonated with a wide audience, leading to multi-platinum sales. Puddle of Mudd has released a total of six studio albums, several compilations, and a live album. They are known for hits like “She Hates Me,” “Blurry,” and “Control.” Despite lineup changes and various challenges, the band has continued to tour and record.
Come Clean
Released August 28, 2001
Come Clean is the major-label debut by Puddle of Mudd, released on Flawless Records. It’s known for its post-grunge sound, reminiscent of the late 1990s alternative scene. Produced by John Kurzweg and Fred Durst. The album was a commercial success, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and selling over 5 million copies. It spawned the hit singles “Blurry,” “Control,” “Drift & Die,” and “She Hates Me.” The album featured Wes Scantlin on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Paul Phillips on lead guitar, Douglas Ardito on bass, and Greg Upchurch on drums, marking the band’s most successful period.
