Puscifer traces its origins to 1995, when Maynard James Keenan, best known as the lead singer of the alternative rock bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, first used the name Puscifer. As an experimental and eclectic project, Puscifer is known for its constant changes in line-up and style. The band’s core consists of Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell, and Carina Round, with a rotating cast of touring musicians and collaborators. Puscifer has released five studio albums: V Is for Vagina (2007), Conditions of My Parole (2011), Money Shot (2015), Existential Reckoning (2020), and Normal Isn’t (2026). Puscifer’s music often blends elements of rock, electronica, and trip-hop, and their performances are known for their theatrical elements. Over the years, the project has involved a wide range of musicians and collaborators, each bringing their unique flavors to the mix.

Maynard James Keenan

Maynard James Keenan is the founder and a core member of Puscifer, handling lead vocals and serving as a primary songwriter. His artistic vision drives the band, and he has used the project to explore different aspects of music and performance art that differ from his work with Tool and A Perfect Circle. Keenan has played on all of Puscifer’s releases and is pivotal in their production, often blending humor with deeper social commentary. Outside of Puscifer, Keenan is renowned for his work with Tool and A Perfect Circle, and he has also established himself as a successful winemaker in Arizona.

Carina Round

Carina Round became part of Puscifer’s core lineup in 2009 and has been a significant contributor as a vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She has a prominent presence on albums including Conditions of My Parole, Money Shot, Existential Reckoning, and Normal Isn’t. Her voice and dynamic stage presence have become integral to the band’s identity. Outside of Puscifer, Round has a successful solo career, known for her emotionally charged music and powerful vocal performances.

Mat Mitchell

Mat Mitchell has been a part of Puscifer since the project’s early recording years, contributing as a producer, guitarist, bassist, programmer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is a key figure in the band’s studio productions, helping to shape the sound of albums from V Is for Vagina through Normal Isn’t. Mitchell’s work extends beyond Puscifer; he is a respected producer and engineer in the music industry, having worked with several other artists in various genres.

Jeff Friedl

Jeff Friedl was part of Puscifer’s touring lineups during the V Is for…, C Is for…, Conditions of My Parole, and Money Shot eras. His drumming appears on Puscifer studio recordings including Conditions of My Parole and Money Shot. Friedl is also known for his work with Devo and A Perfect Circle, bringing a wealth of experience from different musical backgrounds to Puscifer.

Mahsa Zargaran

Mahsa Zargaran toured with Puscifer during the Money Shot era as a multi-instrumentalist, contributing keyboards, guitar, sampling, and backing vocals to Puscifer recordings and performances. In addition to her work with Puscifer, Zargaran has been involved with other musical projects, including Omniflux and Sabrosa Purr, showcasing her broad musical talents.

Paul Barker

Paul Barker, known for his work with Ministry, contributed bass to Puscifer recordings including V Is for Vagina and Conditions of My Parole. He later toured with Puscifer during the Money Shot era, adding his distinctive industrial background to the band’s evolving sound.

Josh Eustis

Josh Eustis, an electronic musician and producer known for his work with Telefon Tel Aviv, toured with Puscifer during the Conditions of My Parole and Donkey Punch the Night era. He also contributed guitar, programming, piano, banjo, erhu, and mixing to Conditions of My Parole.

Tim Alexander

Tim Alexander, best known as the drummer for Primus, was involved with Puscifer during the V Is for… and C Is for… era and played drums on V Is for Vagina. He also contributed drums to later Puscifer recordings, including Conditions of My Parole and Money Shot.

Juliette Commagere

Juliette Commagere toured with Puscifer during the V Is for… and C Is for… era. She contributed vocals and keyboards to Puscifer recordings and later appeared on Conditions of My Parole and Money Shot.

Laura Milligan

Laura Milligan was part of Puscifer’s touring lineup during the V Is for… and C Is for… era, contributing to the project’s early live performances and theatrical presentation.

Jonny Polonsky

Jonny Polonsky toured with Puscifer during the V Is for… and C Is for… era. He contributed guitar and other instrumentation to the project’s early recordings and later played guitar and mandolin on Conditions of My Parole.

Gil Sharone

Gil Sharone was part of Puscifer’s touring lineup during the V Is for… and C Is for… era. The drummer also contributed to Puscifer studio recordings, including V Is for Vagina and Conditions of My Parole.

Rani Sharone

Matt McJunkins

Matt McJunkins toured with Puscifer during the V Is for…, C Is for…, Conditions of My Parole, and Donkey Punch the Night eras. He played bass and contributed backing vocals and keyboards during his time with the project and also appeared on Puscifer studio recordings.

Greg Edwards

Greg Edwards became an important Puscifer contributor during the Existential Reckoning era, playing bass and other instruments on the 2020 album and touring with the band. He continued contributing to the Puscifer catalog and appears on Normal Isn’t.

Josh Moreau

Josh Moreau joined Puscifer’s touring lineup during the Existential Reckoning era and returned for the Normal Isn’t era. The bassist is part of Puscifer’s 2026 touring lineup alongside Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell, Carina Round, and Gunnar Olsen.

Gunnar Olsen

Gunnar Olsen joined Puscifer during the Existential Reckoning era, contributing drums to the album and performing with the band on Existential Reckoning: Live at Arcosanti. He remained part of Puscifer’s touring lineup for the Normal Isn’t era and contributed drums to the 2026 album.
