The Linda Lindas Albums

The Linda Lindas are one of the most exciting young musical groups to emerge in recent years. I love bands like this. The Linda Lindas formed in Los Angeles in 2018, beginning as a casual project created for a performance. At the start, it was a family affair. The group brought together sisters Lucia and Mila de la Garza, their cousin Eloise Wong, and family friend Bela Salazar.

What began as a one-time performance continued to develop as the musicians wrote songs and played more shows. The band gained worldwide attention when its performance of “Racist, Sexist Boy” at the Los Angeles Public Library went viral in 2021. The Linda Lindas subsequently signed with Epitaph Records and released the debut studio album Growing Up in 2022.

Their music carries the urgency of classic punk, power pop, new wave, riot grrrl, and the early-2000s punk revival. Listeners who enjoy bands such as Green Day and Blink-182 will recognize the hooks and energy, but The Linda Lindas have developed a personality and perspective entirely their own.

The band’s lineup features Bela Salazar on guitar and vocals, Eloise Wong on bass, piano, and vocals, Lucia de la Garza on guitar and vocals, and Mila de la Garza on drums, percussion, and vocals. By August 2026, The Linda Lindas had released one EP, two studio albums, and a growing collection of standalone recordings.

Growing Up (2022)

Released: April 8, 2022

Growing Up is the debut full-length album by The Linda Lindas. The record showcases the spirit and talent of Bela Salazar, Eloise Wong, Lucia de la Garza, and Mila de la Garza while exploring friendship, frustration, identity, self-doubt, and the experience of growing up.

The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Carlos de la Garza. It was recorded from June 11 through October 25, 2021, at Music Friends in Los Angeles, with additional engineering by Sergio Chavez, Alec Wingfield, and Matt Maroalakos. Dave Cooley completed the mastering at Elysian Masters.

The album opens with “Oh!” and includes dynamic songs such as “Talking to Myself” and the title track, “Growing Up.” The band explores a heavier punk sound with “Fine” and “Why” before closing with the powerful anti-hate anthem “Racist, Sexist Boy.” This was a group to watch, and the record justified all the early excitement surrounding them.

A listen to the title track:

No Obligation (2024)

Released: October 11, 2024

No Obligation is the second studio album by The Linda Lindas. The record expands the band’s punk foundation with power pop, garage rock, new wave, indie rock, and Rock en Español influences. Its songs address expectation, anxiety, identity, friendship, anger, and the pressure placed on young people to fit into roles chosen by others.

All twelve songs were written and performed by The Linda Lindas. Carlos de la Garza produced, engineered, and mixed the album, which was recorded at Henson Recording Studios, Sunset Sound, and Music Friends Studios in Los Angeles. Dave Collins handled the mastering.

The title track opens the album with a direct rejection of outside expectations. “All in My Head,” “Too Many Things,” “Yo Me Estreso,” “Resolution/Revolution,” and “Nothing Would Change” demonstrate how much the band’s writing and arranging had developed since the debut album.

CD Track Listing:

  1. “No Obligation” – 2:06
  2. “All in My Head” – 3:21
  3. “Lose Yourself” – 3:30
