Our Top 10 Al Green Albums list looks at the albums of one of the greatest r&b soul singers in music history. Al Green stands as one of the most prolific artists of all time. Throughout his career Al Green has released close to thirty studio albums. His first studio album was released in 1967 entitled Back Up Train. His last studio album was released in 2008 entitled Lay Me Down. His most successful period of his career occured in the early to mid 1970s when he released six straight number one albums on the Billboard R&B Charts. Al Green also celebrated five straight Gold selling albums. Our top 10 Al Green Albums list picks out ten of our favorites that you can’t go wrong with.

# 10 – Have a Good Time

We open up our top 10 Al Green Albums List with the album entitled Have A Good Time. While there were no big hits on the record its was a solid overall effort. The album was released in 1976. The album hit number ninety three on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts.The album also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number twelve. The Have A Good Time album was released on Hi Records. It would be Al Green’s last album of the 1970s to break the Billboard Top 100.

# 9 – Al Green Gets Next to You

Continuing with our top 10 Al Green Albums List we move on to the sensational album entitled Al Green Gets Next To You. This great record was Al Green’s third solo album. Standout tracks included a hot version of The Doors “Light My Fire,” and the great Motown song “I Can’t Get Next to You.”  The album was released in 1971. The album hit number fifty eight on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts.The Al Green Gets Next To You album also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number fifteen.

# 8 – Full of Fire

In the number eight spot on our top 10 Al Green Albums List we present the album entitled Full Of Fire. The album also featured the great trio of musicians Leroy Hodges on bass, Charles Hodges on organ and Howard Grimes on drums. These three played on many of the great Al Green albums like this one. The album was released in 1976. Full Of Fire hit number fifty nine on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. The Full Of Fire album also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at twelve.

# 7 – Lay It Down

It’s nice to be able to present a spectacular 21st Century Al Green album on this list.  The Lay It Down album was released in 2008. This smoking Al Green record brought the man back into the spotlight once again. The album featured appearances from stars like John Legend, Anthony Hamilton and Corinne Bailey Rae. It was Al Green’s first album to break into the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts top 10 since 1973’s Call Me  album as Lay It Down hit number nine on the charts. The album also appeared on the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts reaching the number three position.

# 6 – Green Is Blues

Landing in the number six spot on our top 10 Al Green Albums List we present the album entitled Green In Blues. The Green In Blues album was released in 1969. The album hit number nineteen on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. Green In Blues also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number three. The Green In Blues album also appeared on the Canadian Albums Charts reaching the number twenty eight spot.

# 5 – Al Green In Love

At the halfway point on our top 10 Al Green Albums List is the album entitled Al Green Is Love. The Al Green Is Love album was released in 1975. The album hit number twenty eight on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. However Al Green Is Love did much better on the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts where it went all the way to number one.

# 4 – Al Green Explores Your Mind

Have you noticed the pattern of a lot of green on these album covers? Sorry we couldn’t help the pun. At the number four spot on our top 10 Al Green Albums List we present the album entitled Al Green Explores Your Mind. The album Al Green Explores Your Mind was released in 1974. The album hit number fifteen on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. Al Green Explores Your Mind also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number one. It would become Al Green’s last album to hit number one on the album charts. The album contained his monster hit “Take Me To The River.”

# 3 – Call Me

If you want to showcase what a soul meets country album should sound like, look no further than this gem entitled Call Me. It’s one of the best ever. The album was released in 1973. Call Me hit number ten on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. The album also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number one.

# 2 – Let’s Stay Together

If there’s one Al Green song you know, it’s the classic tune “Let’s Stay Together.” Just of the top spot on our top 10 Al Green Albums List we showcase the album also entitled Let’s Stay Together. The album was released in 1972. Let’s Stay Together is Al Green’s first Gold selling album. It’s also his first top 10 album on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. Above all Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together album would become his first number one album as it hit the top spot in 1973 on the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts.

This phenomenal albums stands as Al Green’s highest charting album ever on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts where it went all the way up to number four. I’m Still in Love with You would also become his first and only platinum selling record. The album also broke onto the US Billboard Top R&B Albums Charts peaking at number one. That’s a pretty successful record album.
