Fans and critics loved the song when it was released. It helped put Ciara back on the map. “Body Party” contains a sample of Ghost Town DJs “My Boo.” The sample is a fast track, but Ciara slowed down the tempo for her version. You can hear the sample on the song, but she made it her own by slowing it down. It was a good choice because the music sounds more seductive. It’s perfect for the bedroom. Ciara’s tone is just right for the track. She sings in her upper register for the song. She sounds like Mya and Ariana Grande on this song. Her vocals are strong and flow with the beat. The song is the total package so it’s not a surprise it was a big hit for Ciara.

Ciara wants the man in her life to dance like they’re making love. The lyrics are a metaphor for making love. The lyrics are definitely original. People don’t usually compare dancing to making love.
Ciara is a dancer so it’s not really a surprise that she would write a song about dancing. The music has finger snaps and pumping drum beats. The music is catchy and upbeat. It will have you on the dance floor immediately. The music is sensual and would be good for lovemaking. The melody of this song is similar to Tamar Braxton’s song “Where It Hurts.” Ciara’s song is a little faster, but you can hear the similarities between the songs. Ciara sounds similar to Janet Jackson on this track. She is one of her idols so it’s not a shock that she sounds like her. She replicates Janet Jackson’s style of singing. She also sounds similar to Mya and Aaliyah. She showcases her soprano vocals in the song. She doesn’t hold any notes or projects her voice, but it wasn’t needed for the song. The song is for sensuality. It wasn’t meant to be a power ballad.

If you pay attention to the lyrics, you will know exactly what went wrong in their relationship.
The lyrics are raw and painful. People dealing with breakups can relate to the lyrics. She wanted the fans to understand that people don’t appreciate you until they lose you. She mentions in the lyrics that he would start loving her as soon as she loved someone else. She doesn’t hold back on the lyrics. She is putting everything out there. She is brave to give fans an inside look at her relationship. The song is clearly a diss track to someone. There were rumors that Future cheated on her so it clearly inspired the song. Ciara has never confirmed the song is about Future, but it’s not hard to read between the lines. The music sounds similar to old school r&b.
The piano and drums drive the music. This isn’t the type of music Ciara uses for her tracks. She usually has songs that have a hip-hop flare to them so it was a nice change. Ciara’s vocals are pretty good on this song. She uses her lower register to her advantage. She sings in her normal tone at points in the song. Her vocals are stacked in the hook so she sounds like she’s using a double. She sings all of the vocals for the song. She lets down her guard and shows her vulnerable side.
# 7 – Get Up ft. Chamillionaire
The sleek song is from Ciara: The Evolution album. The track has a crunk & b sound. The party song is about dancing. If that’s what you assumed based on the title, you would be right. This song is featured in the dance flick Step Up. The lyrics are what you would expect from a song like this one. It’s basically about getting up on the dance floor and doing your thing. This is the type of song you would expect to hear in a club on the weekend or at a party. The track commands you to do what the title says and “get up.”
The music is high energy and bouncy. This is one of the tracks that made Ciara the princess of crunk & b. The song will definitely please fans of hip-hop music. It will also please fans of dance music. The melody is similar to her other hit song “1, 2 Step.” The infectious beat makes it impossible to sit down. The pumping drumbeat drives the song. The music is computer-generated, but it’s still infectious. Your heart will be pumping after dancing to this jam. Ciara is channeling her inner Aaliyah and Janet Jackson with this song. She sounds like Janet Jackson, but her style is closer to Aaliyah on this song. Chamillionaire’s rhyming skills are impeccable. He races through his verse effortlessly. His part is a little small compared to hers, but he makes his mark.
# 6 – Goodies ft. Petey Pablo
The summer anthem is from the album of the same name. The song has an r&b sound to it. The ironic song is about a woman who abstains from having sex. She values her “goodies” and doesn’t want to give them away to just anyone. This song is the counterpart to Usher’s song “Yeah.” If you go by the title of the song, you would think she were talking about giving “goodies” away. She gives a positive message about not doing it. There aren’t too many tracks about embracing abstinence.
Most songs talk about making love. People who sing r&b music tend to express themselves freely when it comes to love making. She was sending a positive message to her fans by creating a story where she didn’t have to give up her virtue without being in love. Her song is reminiscent of Janet Jackson’s “”Let’s Wait Awhile.” The songs have similar themes. The mid-tempo song includes a whistle throughout the song. It has sizzling crunk pop synths. It features a rhythmic guitar in the beginning and end of the song that makes to music pop. The track has a great beat for dancing. She sings the song in her upper register, which went with the music.
Once again she sounds like Janet Jackson and Aaliyah. She’s showing her empowerment by not giving away her goodies to just anyone. She sings with the right amount of attitude to give this song some sass. The only complaint is that she is hard to understand in the lyrics. Her voice blends right in with the music so you may need to read the lyrics to understand some of the things she says. Petey Pablo does his thing with his rhyme. He is a brilliant rapper. They worked well together.

The celebratory song is a dedication to “hood boys.” The song is about guys that people would consider thugs. They are guys from Urban areas. She wanted to sing an ode to men like them. It was a different choice for Ciara to sing about guys from the “hood.” There aren’t too many r&b artists who sing songs like this one.
She proves that she wants to keep her music fresh and different from other artists. The track is infectious. She collaborated with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins for this song. This doesn’t sound like the other tracks Darkchild usually writes for artists. If he didn’t shout his name out, it would have been hard to distinguish his song. He writes music that combines r&b and pop music. This song is out of his wheelhouse, but he was right at home. He brought out the best in Ciara.
She gave her all with this song. She channels her inner Aaliyah and Mya on this track. 50 Cent does an excellent job with his rhymes. He raps in time with the music. Ciara and 50 Cent have great chemistry with each other. They should work together on other projects because they did a great job on this one.
# 4 – 1, 2 Step ft. Missy Elliott
The dance friendly song is from the Goodies album. It has a crunk & b sound. The sparkling song is about a dance. She’s talking about two stepping in the song. It was an odd choice to write about that type of dance. You don’t hear about that in music too often. Ciara takes chances that other songwriters don’t take with their music. The result was this catchy jam.
The song wasn’t crafted to make you think. It’s a song that’s just about dancing and having fun. It’s a novelty song. The song shouldn’t be taken seriously at all. This is the type of track you can listen to when you want to leave your problems at the door. The song features an interpolation of Teena Marie’s “Square Biz.” The sample helps make the song pop. The music is clearly inspired by 80s electro music. The song makes reference to her single “Goodies” as well as Queen’s “We Will Rock You.”
It was strange that she would use Queen’s single, but she made it work. Ciara is right at home with a track like this one. She sings songs like this so she is in her comfort zone. Missy Elliott joins in for the fun with her verse. She does a good job with her verse. She speeds up her rhymes so it may be hard to keep up with her. She worked with Aaliyah so it makes sense that she worked with Ciara because she sounds like her on this track.
# 3 – Oh ft. Ludacris
The anthemic song is from the Goodies album. The song has an r&b sound. The tribute song is a dedication to her hometown in Atlanta, Georgia. She talks about what Atlanta has to offer. You don’t have to be from Atlanta to enjoy the song. It can resonate with anyone. It may touch the hearts of people from Atlanta more than anyone else, but you can still enjoy it. The title of the track is misleading.
It would lead you to believe that the song is sensual, but it’s about her hometown. Other artists sing about their hometowns, but she managed to make her song sound original. She gives a first hand long at what goes on in Atlanta, Georgia. If you are interested in what goes on in Atlanta, this song will give you an indication of what happens there. This is another novelty song. It’s another track that wasn’t written to make you think. It’s a song that will make you dance.
The track is very radio friendly. Fans of pop and dance will appreciate this jam. The song is slow, but you can move around to it. The beat really drives the song. It’s one of the best things about the track. Ciara’s vocals are on point with this song. Her sultry vocals blend well with the music. Ludacris’ vocals are raspy on the song. They were a contrast to her high vocals.
# 2 – Love Sex Magic ft. Justin Timberlake
The easygoing song is from the Carnival Ride album. The song has an electro funk, disco and soul sound to it. The sizzling song is self-explanatory. Justin Timberlake wanted to create a song that men and women could relate to when they hear it. The song is fast-paced and has a lot of energy. It sounds like something Justin Timberlake recorded on his album FutureSex/LoveSounds. This track would fit right in on his album. The song is a departure for Ciara.
Ciara didn’t record songs like this one. She didn’t use crunk & b for this track. This is a dance, pop and r&b song. The song was perfect for Top 40 radio. It gave her a chance to gain a new audience. The track gave her a chance to step out of her comfort zone and try something new. The music will grab your attention immediately. The thumping drumbreat and synths drive the song. We dare you to sit still listening to this party jam. There’s no way you can do it because the music hits you in the sweet spot the minute the song starts.
Ciara and Justin Timberlake have vocal chemistry with each other. She shows versatility by singing in her lower register as well as her upper register. Justin Timberlake sings in his lower register. Ciara is a little hard to understand when she sings in her upper register. You may have to read the lyrics to understand what she’s saying. Other than that minor complaint, the song is fire.
# 1 – Like a Boy
The number one song on our Top 10 Ciara Songs list is “Like a Boy” from the Ciara: The Evolution album. The song has an r&b and hip-hop sound. The anthemic song is about double standards when it concerns relationships. Men are allowed to do certain things in a relationship while women are not allowed to do it. Men can stay out late with their friends while women are expected to stay home. This is a girl power anthem.
Ciara wanted a song out there for women because they are looked down on when they want to have the same type of fun as men. The song is clearly for women. Men may find the song offensive because she’s calling them out on the things they can get away with doing. The song is similar to Beyonce’s hit song “If I Were a Boy.” The themes for both songs are similar. Beyonce had the same idea as Ciara to create a girls’ anthem. Beyonce’s song is a ballad while Ciara’s is an up-tempo track.
The song opens with an impressive string section. You wouldn’t expect a hip-hop song to feature an orchestra section, but she did it. The music is very catchy and will hook you until the song is done. The music combines orchestra music with hip-hop. They combine to make fantastic music. Ciara sings the song in a way that invites you to sing along with her. She sings with attitude and the right amount of sass to pull the song off. She wants the men in the world to know their actions and how they would feel if they were in a similar situation. She does a great job with her vocals. Her voice is easy on the ear. This earworm will stay in your head after it’s done.
