Our Top 10 Falco songs list takes a listen to the songs of the most successful Austrian singer of all time. With sales of over twenty million albums, the legacy of Falco has also celebrated an astonishing accomplishment of forty million in singles sales. That’s a lot of songs sold. He is also the only singer to have a foreign language song in German hit number one on the United States Billboard Hot 100. While many fans in the United States may not be as aware of how huge a star Falco was on the eastern sides of the Atlantic, his fans in Europe are very much aware of the star’s popularity.

Born in 1957 and hailing from the city of Vienna, Austria, Falco released his first album in 1982 entitled Einzelhaft. The album would be fueled by his very successful hit single “Der Kommissar.” Hiowbwre it was his third album Falco 3 which contained the monster hit Rock Me Amedsues that would turn Falco into a huge international star around the world. Sadly, Falco passed away in 1998. Throughout his career Falco released ten albums with his last three being released after his passing. Those albums would include Einzelhaft in 1982, Junge Roemer in 1984, Falco 3 in 1985, Emotional in 1986, Wiener Blut in 1988, Data de Groove  in 1990 , Nachtflug in 1992, Out of the Dark in 1998 ,Into the Light in 1998, Verdammt wir leben noch in 1999 and The Spirit Never Dies in 2009.

# 10 – Wiener Blut

We open up our top 10 Falco songs list with the fabulous song entitled “Wiener Blut”   The song was released on the album also entitled Wiener Blut. The song is sung in German but its melody is so addicting. This is Falco. Great dance grooves, high-quality keyboard work, and enchanting lead vocals with great backing vocals. “Wiener Blut” was the first single released from the album. The album was released in 1988.

The song “Wiener Blut” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number four. “Wiener Blut” also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to number nine.  In Switzerland, the song hit number twenty four. The song was composed by  Falco, Rob Bolland and Ferdi Bolland.

# 9 – Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da

Continuing with our top 10 Falco songs list we take a listen to the breathtaking song entitled “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da.”  This great track has such a cinematic edge to it with its dark minor key chord progression.  The song “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da” was released on the album entitled Out of the Dark (Into the Light). The album was released in 1996. “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da,” was the first single released from the album. It would become Falco’s first gold selling single in over ten years.

The song “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da,” was a massive hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number three. The song “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da,” also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to eleven. In Switzerland, the song hit number thirty.  “Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da,” was composed by Peter Hoffmann, Franz Plasa, White Duke, and Edgar Höfler.

# 8 – Egoist

In the number eight spot on our top 10 Falco songs list, we present the high-spirited song “Egoist.” We love the guitar solo in this one. The song “Egoist” was released on the album entitled Out of the Dark (Into the Light).  The album was released in 1996. “Egoist” was the fourth single released from the album. The song “Egoist” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number six. “Egoist” also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to four. In Switzerland, the song “Egoist” hit number nineteen. “Egoist”  was composed by Falco, Peter Ehrlich, and Steve van Velvet

# 7 – Junge Roemer

In the number seven position on our top 10 Falco songs list is the song exhilarating entitled “Junge Roemer”  This one has a retro 70s disco feel to it.  It also sounds like a David Bowie song. The song was released on the album also entitled Junge Roemer. The album was released in 1984. “Junge Roemer” was the first single released from the album. The song was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number four. The song “Junge Roemer”  was composed by Falco and Robert Ponger.

# 6 – Out of the Dark

Landing in the number six spot on our top 10 Falco songs list we present the song “Out of the Dark.”  It’s very cool how rhythmic these vocals sound in the German language. However, like much of Falco’s music, he sings the chorus in English. The song was released on the album entitled Out of the Dark (Into the Light).  The album was released in 1996.  It was the third single released from the album. The song was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number two. The song also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to number two. The song was composed by Falco and Torsten Börger.

# 5 – The Sound of Musik

At the halfway point on our top 10 Falco songs list is the great grooving song entitled “The Sound of Musik.” Falco mentions many American musical icons like Otis Redding James Brown and Elvis Presley in what appears to be an attempt to score more success with the US audience.  Even the title of the song is in reference to the legendary motion picture The Sound Of Music and the cover of the album pays tribute to a very famous Elvis Presley album.

The song “The Sound of Musik,” was issued on the album entitled Emotional. The album was released in 1986. It was the first single released from the album. The song “The Sound of Musik” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number four. “The Sound of Musik” also hit number four on the GfK Entertainment Charts. In Switzerland, the song hit number eleven. The song “The Sound of Musik” was composed by Falco, Rob Bolland, and Ferdi Bolland.

# 4 – Vienna Calling

At the number four spot on our top 10 Falco songs list we present the song entitled “Vienna Calling.” The song was released on the album entitled Falco 3. The album was released in 1985. It was the second single released from the album.  “Vienna Calling.” served as the follow-up single to “Rock Me Amadeus.” The song “Vienna Calling” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number four. “Vienna Calling” also was a hit on theGfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to number three.  In the United States, the song was a top 20 hit peaking at number eighteen on the US Billboard Hot 100. hit. The song “Vienna Calling” was composed by Hans Hölzel, Rob Bolland and Ferdi Bolland.

# 3 – Jeanny

Moving along on our top 10 Falco songs list we present the song entitled “Jeanny,” The song “Jeanny” was released on the album entitled Falco 3. The album was released in 1985.  It was the third single released from the album. Most music fans in the United States do not really know this song, but it was huge overseas. It’s interesting that the verses are in German, but the chorus is sung in English, It’s a pretty passionate song.

The song “Jeanny” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number one. “Jeanny” also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to number one. The song was also a monster hit in Switzerland hitting number one making it his first and lonely number one hit in the country. “Jeanny” also hit number one in Norway and The Netherlands. The song did not even chart in the United States. The song “Jeanny” was composed by Falco, Rob Bolland and Ferdi Bolland

# 2 – Der Kommissar

Just of the top spot on our top 10 Falco songs list we celebrate the  monumental song entitled “Der Kommissar.”  Take a look at the video which is pretty funny. The opening special effects show how far we have come in making quality video and special effects. Nonetheless, this is all about the song itself which was a huge hit around the world and pretty much introduced the world to the artistry of Falco.  The song “Der Kommissar” was released on the album entitled Einzelhaft. The album was released in 1981. “Der Kommissar” would become Falco’s first number one single of his career.

# 1 – Rock Me Amadeus

We close out our top 10 Falco songs list with the legendary song entitled “Rock Me Amadeus.”  This would be by far the biggest hit of Falco’s career. The song became so popular, that there were almost twenty different mixes of the song released. The song was originally inspired by the brilliant film Amadeus about the life of Wolfgang Ameduas Mozart.  The song “Rock Me Amadeus” was released on the album entitled Falco 3. The album was released in 1985. “Rock Me Amadeus” was the first single released from the album. The song “Rock Me Amadeus” was a hit on the Austria Top 40 peaking at number one. The song “Rock Me Amadeus” also was a hit on the GfK Entertainment charts reaching all the way up to number one. In Switzerland, the song just missed the number one spot peaking at number two.

In the United Kingdom, the song was also a monster hit reaching number one. Additionally the song “Rock Me Amadeus” hit number one in the countries Sweden, Ireland, New Zealand, and Canada. As we said in the introduction the song also went all the way to number one on the United States Billboard Hot 100. It would become a big time favorite of MTV which helped fuel sales of the song in the United States.  “Rock Me Amadeus” was composed by Falco, Rob Bolland, and Ferdi Bolland.
