# 10 – Perfect ft. Ralph Tresvant

The first song on our Top 10 Johnny Gill Songs list is “Perfect” from the album Game Changer 2. The song has an r&b sound. The affectionate song is about a woman who is everything that a man is looking for when it comes to love. Everything about her is “perfect.” He lets the woman in his life know that he will consider her perfect even if she considers herself imperfect. He doesn’t care how she looks because he will only see perfection when he looks at her. If the woman you love is feeling insecure about her looks, you should play this song for her. You can let her know this is how you feel about her.

The song reunites Johnny Gill with Ralph Tresvant. They worked together in the legendary r&b/pop group New Edition. This song gives the singers a chance to work together on a song without the rest of the group. They prove they still have what it takes to be great singers. Both of their vocals sound just as good as ever. They worked well together with New Edition and work well without them. Their voices are the “perfect” contrast of each other. Johnny Gill’s smooth velvety voice can send shivers down your spine. He has a sexy baritone voice that will drive women crazy. Ralph Tresvant has a tenor voice which will also drive women crazy. Women would be lucky to have these men serenading them with these beautiful lyrics.

# 9 – This One’s for Me and You ft. New Edition

The next song on our Top 10 Johnny Gill Songs list is “This One’s for Me and You” from the album Game Changer. The song has an r&b beat. The celebratory song is about a good relationship. Johnny Gill and New Edition sing about a couple who celebrate being together. People thought they weren’t going to make it, but they proved them wrong. They wanted to raise a toast to the women they love. If you have trouble expressing yourself, you can turn the music up and let Johnny Gill and the rest of New Edition say the words for you.

The song is a ballad with tempo added to it. The track allows fans of New Edition to hear their favorite group on another song together. The music fits their style perfectly. This song could have been a New Edition track because the style is similar to their style. The group gets back into their old routine with their stylish performances. Johnny Gill, Ricky Bell and Ralph Tresvant sing lead on the song. They get their chances to shine on the track. They don’t go out of their way to step on each other in the song. New Edition had issues in the past so this song didn’t have to go off without a hitch. Thankfully it went well for the artists as well as the fans. The song is so good that you might not want it to end any time soon.

# 8 – There U Go

This sensual song is from the Boomerang soundtrack. The song has an r&b beat. The dreamy song describes the way a man feels about the woman he loves. He expresses the way he loves her and how she makes him feel. He lets her know that he will do anything and everything for her. He thinks she is incomparable to anyone else. He wants to spend the night with her and do grown things for her. This smooth ballad was written for the movie, but you don’t have to watch the movie in order to appreciate the song. You can play this song for the woman you love and she will melt in your arms. This song will definitely put her in the right mood. She may even be willing to spend the night with you the way Johnny Gill wants his woman to spend the night with him.

This beautiful hit song has Babyface’s lyrical and musical stamp written all over it. The reason for that is because the hitmaker penned this song. He wrote and produced the songs on the Boomerang soundtrack. This gem is one of his finest works on the soundtrack. Babyface worked with Johnny Gill in the past so he knew what to do to bring out the best in Johnny Gill. Babyface wrote the perfect song for him. Johnny Gill has a voice that will make women swoon and men want to be like him so they can make women swoon. The music is sexy and smooth. It is perfect for slow dancing. Johnny Gill’s vocals are fantastic. He sings in time with the beat. His deep voice is beyond perfect. He makes you feel each lyric he is saying. The background singers also sound amazing. Their voices blend well with his. They will all have you singing along with them.

# 7 – I’m Still Waiting

The longing song is from the New Jack City Soundtrack. The song has an r&b sound. The touching song is about needing someone who will be there for you when you are down. We all need someone to be there for us when we feel alone. He’s still waiting for the right person to come along and help him. He discusses how he wants someone to be there for him through thick and thin. He has been waiting for the right one to come along for him. If he’s singing songs like this one, he won’t have to wait long. There will be a woman who wants to be there for him. This song doesn’t really fit in the movie so you can still enjoy it without watching the movie.

The music will consume your heart. It will hook you as it starts. There is a cool guitar solo that you wouldn’t expect to hear in this track. Johnny Gill’s vocals are outstanding. He pushes himself to his limit. He goes all in with his vocals. His vocals were superb. They were filled with longing and passion. There’s no way a woman could resist his voice. He hits every note with ease. He belts in a way that you wouldn’t expect him to do. Johnny Gill sings the song in time with the beat. He has a deep voice so it didn’t seem possible that he would be able to soar vocally, but he did it. He soared and passed with flying colors. He holds a note in his upper register that will bring a smile to your face. If you thought this was going to be a typical r&b song, you were mistaken. He takes this song to places you wouldn’t expect him to do.

# 6 – Where Do We Go from Here Stacy Lattisaw ft. Johnny Gill

The contemplative song is from Stacy Lattisaw’s album What You Need. The song has an r&b beat. The questionable song is about a couple wondering where they go from here. They wondered if they should stay together or break up. The couple is at a loss at what to do about their relationship. They go back and forth about whether they should call it quits. They tell a story about what happened when they got together and when things started to go downhill for them. They are stuck about what to do so they ask each other “where do we go from here?” It’s a question that doesn’t seem to get an answer.

If you grew up in a family who listened to r&b music, there’s a chance you have heard this track on r&b radio. If you haven’t heard it on the radio, you probably heard it from your family. This song is a quiet storm staple. This track gives Stacy Lattisaw and Johnny Gill another opportunity to work together again. We will talk about the other single they released together after we finish talking about this one. Their voices sound beautiful together. Here is a fun fact about the duo. They used to date in high school. It makes you wonder if this song was recorded while they dated. If they recorded this song then, it wouldn’t be a surprise that they sounded so convincing talking about their relationship ending. They sound as if they were made to record together. They were the equivalent to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell and Ashford and Simpson. Their chemistry is off the charts. Her soprano vocals were an excellent choice against Johnny Gill’s deep vocals. They take you to church with their voices. In fact, they sound like a choir when they sing the chorus.

# 5 – Perfect Combination Stacy Lattisaw and Johnny Gill

The next song on our Top 10 Johnny Gill Songs list is “Perfect Combination.” The song is about a couple who love each and believe they were made for each other. This is the opposite of their other track on our list “Where Do Go from Here.” Our previous entry has the couple talking about whether they want to stay together or break up. “Perfect Combination” talks about celebrating their love for each other. This song is the beginning stage of the relationship while the other track talks about the end of their relationship. Let’s get back to “Perfect Combination.” This is the perfect song for people in love with each other. They express love for each other without being corny.

You can easily forget the duo were teenagers when they recorded this song. They sound like seasoned professionals. They were giving this song their all. It’s as if they were pledging their love to each other. In case you didn’t know, Stacy Lattisaw and Johnny Gill used to date each other in the 80s. They recorded this track in the 80s so it’s possible they were dating when this song was done. They sound like they are in love with each other. With that said, they make this song sound like magic. They may be too young to know what they are singing about, but they are doing a good job of covering that. They talk about being lovers, but they were only 17 when they recorded it. They were able to sell this song as if they were older. Stacy Lattisaw sounds like an angel while she’s singing. Her voice soars to heights unknown. Johnny Gill’s voice is spectacular. He sounds more mature than his years. His baritone voice sounds seductive as he pledges his love to his lady. The duo turns this song into a power ballad. This is the type of track that will never get old.

# 4 – Fairweather Friend

The devoted song is from his self-titled album. The song has an r&b beat. The loyal song is about a man who promises that he won’t be a fairweather friend to the woman he loves. He will be there to the end. In case you were wondering, here is a vocabulary lesson for you. A fairweather friend is someone who is only around when things are going well. They would never be around if you are going through bad times. He promises to be there for her regardless of how she’s doing. He will be there for her through stormy weather. If you have someone in your life who won’t be a fairweather friend, you are in luck.

Johnny Gill teamed up with LA Reid, Babyface and Darryl Simmons for this jam. The song has the classic LaFace sound. LaFace wrote al out of the songs that came out in the late 80s and 90s. They ruled the charts with the songs they wrote for artists. The melody of this song is similar to Bobby Brown’s song “Don’t Be Cruel.” The melody also has traces of the other songs they wrote for artists in the 90s. Johnny Gill does their song justice. He killed the vocals on this jam. His vocals are just as good as the beat on this song. His runs on his songs are legendary. The best way to describe what he does is to call it a “stutter run.” He performs his runs, but he does them as if he were stuttering. He proves that you don’t have to be a tenor vocalist to belt in songs. He belts in ways that don’t seem possible for someone who sings in his pitch. His voice could have cracked, but it didn’t.

# 3 – Let’s Get the Mood Right

The romantic song is from the album of the same name. The song has an r&b beat. The intimate song is about spending a sexy evening with the person you love. He wants to set the mood right for their evening. “Let’s Get the Mood Right” is the sequel to his smash hit “My, My, My.” He still wants his lady in her sexy red dress. He wants the night to be dedicated to the woman he loves. He wants to make love to her all night long. This is the perfect jam to listen to when you want to have an evening at home with the person you love. This romantic song will put you in the mood for a special evening.

This song reunites Johnny Gill with Babyface. He managed to make the song sound different from “My, My, My” even though the songs are similar to each other. The beat is hypnotizing and seductive. Listening to the music will get you in the mood for loving. The song was written years ago, but it sounds just as fresh today. The melody of the song is similar to Babyface’s version of “You Are So Beautiful.” The keyboard solos are similar to each other. Johnny Gill’s vocals are impeccable. He starts the song softly to match the beat. He lets loose as the song progresses. He is commanding as he talks about wanting to be with the woman in red and it sounds very sexy. He does a shout out to his hit song “My, My, My” towards the end of the song. He does his famous “stutter run” at the end of the song. This is a song that you will want to keep on repeat so it won’t have to end.

# 2 – Rub You the Right Way

The kinky song is from his eponymous album. The track has a New Jack Swing beat. The seductive song is about having sex with someone. He talks about the different ways he wants to touch his woman. He wants her to feel the magic in his hands as he touches her. He gets descriptive about his plans for his woman without being too vulgar. This song will put you in the mood to get intimate with your lover. “Rub You the Right Way” is the first single from his hit album. This song helped establish Johnny Gill as a bonafide r&b act.

Jam & Lewis wrote the up-tempo jam. The melody of the song is similar to Janet Jackson’s “State of the World.” It was a different choice to have this track be a dance friendly song instead of a ballad. Johnny Gill is one of the kings of romance so it was different that he recorded a track about making love and it was a dance song. With that said, he was able to pull it off. The beat is catchy and has r&b and pop appeal. You will be out of your seat once the song begins. The beat is very infectious. Johnny Gill proved he could sing this type of song. His vocals are wonderful on this song. He sounds similar to singer Teddy Pendergrass. He uses his urgency as he is letting the woman know that he wants to rub her the right way. He holds notes and performs runs in the song. Johnny Gill does everything right on this track. It was a toss up to decide which song was going to make it to number one.

# 1 – My, My, My

The number one song on our Top 10 Johnny Gill Songs list is “My, My, My” from his eponymous album. The song has an r&b beat. The passionate song is about a man who wants to acknowledge how beautiful his woman looks. He is in awe about the way his woman looks. He can’t believe that she’s with him. Johnny Gill helped make red dresses seem very sexy once he talked about his woman sliding into one. If a man wants to seduce his lady, this is the song to use to do it. She probably won’t be in the red dress and high heels for very long. This song is the epitome of babymaking music. A lot of babies were probably conceived to this song.

This is the type of song that will never old. This song is still played on Quiet Storm radio. The song was written years ago, but will still get people excited to this day. This song is one of Johnny Gill’s signature songs. He will most likely always be remembered for this track. He gave this song his all. He is a master at singing ballads. He baritone vocals were just what the doctor ordered. He sings the song with a fierce growl after the bridge. He uses his “stutter run” with the word “my.” His performance was flawless. Here is a fun fact about the song. Jazz musician Kenny G plays the saxophone on this song. His solo is pure perfection. His solo is just as good as listening to Johnny Gill’s velvety voice. Here is another fun fact about the song. Babyface was originally supposed to record this song. He didn’t think he would do it justice so Johnny Gill wanted to record it. Johnny Gill wanted to record the song as soon as he heard it.
