Our Top 10 Rock Songs You Never Get Sick Of list is probably one of the most subjective lists we have ever compiled. But that’s okay because one of the main goals of these lists is to start a conversation, and we think this one will be easy to get started with. There are so many classic rock songs that we all fell in love with dramatically at first but just became so overplayed on the radio that we just got tired of listening to them. Remember how you felt the first time you heard “Stairway To Heaven” or “Bohemian Rhapsody.” These songs were so groundbreaking, and the radio just never stopped playing them; after a while, it was “enough already.” Of course, some people probably haven’t got tired of those two songs. That’s the beauty of subjectivity. Nonetheless, we all have albums that we’ve been playing for 50 years and never stop playing them. It’s usually because many of those albums contain some of our favorite songs of our Lives. Those are the tunes that you’ll find on our list. What would be on yours?

# 10 – Driving Wheel – Foghat

We open our Top 10 Rock Songs You Never Get Sick Of list with our favorite Foghat song, “Driving Wheel.” The song was released on the album Night Shift in November 1976. It was the opening song on the album. “Driving Wheel” was composed by Dave Peverett and Rod Price. The duel guitars by Peverett and Rice were just so killer.

# 9 –  And You And I – Yes

Continuing with our Top 10 Rock Songs You Never Get Sick Of list, we present one of the all time most loved Yes songs in the track “And You And I.” The song was released on the album entitled Close To The Edge. The album was released in 1972. Even though the song is over ten minutes long, Atlantic Records released a single edit that peaked at number forty-two on the US Billboard Hot 100.

# 8 – Magic Man – Heart

The opening guitar line of this song captivates me every time. There are countless songs in Heart’s catalog that I will never tire of, but this one always comes to mind first. It was released on their album Dreamboat Annie in 1976. From the moment I first heard this song, Heart became one of my all-time favorite bands. The group has continued to release spectacular albums one after another, right up to the present day.

# 7 – Hot For Teacher – Van Halen

In my recent interview with Carmine Appice, the legendary drummer shared that Alex Van Halen told him that the song “Parchman Farm”  played a significant role in influencing Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher.” This has always been our favorite Van Halen song. The video is truly one for the ages.

# 6 – Scenes From An Italian Restaurant – Billy Joel

Yes, this one has been played a lot, but there’s just so much to this song, so many different changes and parts. It’s just one of those songs that never gets boring. Originally released on Billy Joel’s The Stranger album, it clearly has become one of his most loved songs, maybe even surpassing “Piano Man.”

# 5 – Darkness On The Edge Of Town – Bruce Springsteen

While Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run album, with songs like “Thunder Road,” “Backstreets,” “Jungleland,” and the title track, gets all the love (which it should), I’ve always felt more connected to his second record. The title track to Bruce Springsteen’s Darkness on the Edge of Town album is one of his most poignant tracks. It reaches down into the darkness of despair and pulls you right back up, giving you hope not to give up.

# 4 – I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home) – Grand Funk Railroad

At the number four spot on our Top 10 Rock Songs You Never Get Sick Of list, stands in our opinion, Grand Funk’s greatest recording. There are so many loved Grand Funk songs, but this one stood above them all. The song was released on the album entitled Closer to Home. The album was released in 1972.

# 3 – The Ocean – Led Zeppelin

“The Ocean” has always been that one Led Zeppelin song I never get tired of listening to. Obviously, Led Zeppelin’s entire catalog has been played extensively by everyone, and some songs are just overplayed. Yet, “The Ocean” remains a fan favorite and stands as one of John Bonham’s shining moments. The song was originally released on Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy album.

# 2 – TIE – Baba O’Riley / Won’t Get Fooled Again –  The Who

Just can’t ignore this one. The Who’s, Who’s Next album is regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll albums ever released, was fueled by two of the most important, influential, and just plain enjoyable classic rock songs ever: “Baba O’Riley” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” Of course, these are two of the most played songs on classic rock radio and everywhere else over the past 50-plus years. Nonetheless, I never tire of listening to Roger Daltry’s iconic lyrical lines in both of these songs. Every member of the band gives it everything they’ve got on these two tracks.

# 1 – Tiny Dancer / Levon – Elton John

We close out our Top 10 Rock Songs You Never Get Sick Of list with another tie. This time it’s all Elton John. These two songs kind of go hand in hand. Both were released on Elton’s fabulous Madman Across the Water album. Elton John and Bernie hit a grand slam on this album with these two songs. Of course, the rest of the record is also fantastic, but these two took his music to a whole new level.
