The Rock and Roll world received the news today that the legendary music superstars Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks will be hitting the concert stage together with multiple stadium shows come spring 2023. The two iconic rock and roll stars announced their plans on social media. So far, three stadium dates have been scheduled with the first one being performed at SoFi Stadium in the city of Inglewood, California which is located in the Los Angeles County area. The second show will be held at AT&T Stadium in the city of Arlington Texas. That show will be performed on April 8th. A third show was also announced to be performed in the grand city of Nashville Tennessee at Nissan Stadium on May 19 2023. There are also plans for more shows to be announced.

This will not be the first time that Billy Joel shared the concert stage with a major rival rock and roll star. For years Billy Joel toured with Elton John in what was a very successful run of concerts. While those two men’s personalities could not be further apart, their music shared many similarities in that both artists were classicly trained rock and roll piano players who seemed to be inspired by many of the same artists they shared a love of. During those tours, Billy Joel and Elton Johndid separate sets but also performed together at the start of the shows and in the encores. We wonder if that’s will be the same setup between Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel. It was always fun to hear Billy Joel and Elton John sing verses from each other’s songs. It will be interesting to hear Stevie Nicks sing Billy Joel songs and vice versa. Our bet is that is what is going to happen.

Both Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks shared incredible success in the 1970s on the charts. It was Billy Joel’s  The Stranger album that began to break records in sales performances. The Stranger album was released in September of 1977 and has long been regarded as Billy Joel’s greatest album. Only six months earlier, Stevie Nicks and her bandmates in Fleetwood Mac would release the Rumours album which also broke many sales records. That album is also regarded as the peak of Fleetwood Mac’s popularity and artistic success.

While Billy Joel like Elton John has always been known as just a solo artist, Stevie Nicks has enjoyed the success of being part of one of the most popular music bands in history while also enjoying a spectacular solo career. She is one of only a handful of artists to be inducted into the Rock and Rool Hall of Fame twice as a band member and a solo artist.

Both Stevie Nicks who is one year older than Billy Joel at 74  have large loyal and adoring fan bases. It’s probably pretty safe to say that they share a good portion of those fan bases with each other. This is a concert tour that makes total sense while offering fans what we believe will be great shows. Our only concern will be ticket prices. Tickets for all three shows will go on sale on November 11, 2022. We will keep our eyes open for announcements of any more shows.
