Kimberly Marie Perry
Born on July 12, 1983, Kimberly Marie Perry emerged as a distinctive voice in the American country music scene, primarily through her role in The Band Perry, where she performed alongside her siblings, Neil and Reid. The trio, under the Republic Nashville banner starting in 2009, made waves with two albums, clinching the top spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart three times, along with securing several other top ten hits. Their accolades include a Grammy, alongside three Country Music Association Awards and four Academy of Country Music Awards. In a bold move in 2017, the band ventured into pop music, but this new direction yielded mixed results, leading to an official pause in their group activities in 2023. Post-hiatus, Kimberly gravitated back towards her country music origins, embarking on a solo career.
Kimberly’s early days in music saw her at the helm of her own band, with her brothers contributing first as roadies, then as opening acts. Her early work, including an EP titled “Carry On,” laid the groundwork for what would become the signature sound of The Band Perry. The siblings’ collective venture began making strides in 2005, joining the New Faces of Country tour.
The Band Perry’s journey took a significant turn in 2008 when they caught the attention of Bob Doyle, Garth Brooks’ manager. His guidance led to demos that caught Scott Borchetta’s eye, leading to a contract with Republic Nashville in 2009. Their initial offering, “Hip to My Heart,” set the stage for their self-titled EP and subsequent album, propelling them with hits like “If I Die Young,” which not only topped charts but also earned a 6x platinum certification. Kimberly’s songwriting prowess shone through, earning her individual accolades and setting the band on a path of award-winning success.
Their pursuit of musical evolution continued with “Pioneer,” their sophomore album, which debuted at the top of the Top Country Albums chart, bolstered by hits like “Better Dig Two” and “Done.” Their contribution to the Glen Campbell documentary with “Gentle on My Mind” further solidified their status, earning them a Grammy in 2015.
The band’s exploration of pop began with “Live Forever” in 2015, signaling a new chapter with Interscope Records. Despite releasing several singles, their anticipated pop-infused album faced hurdles, leading to their departure from Interscope and the independent release of “Coordinates” in 2018.
With the band on break as of March 2023, Kimberly quickly pivoted to her solo aspirations, signing with RECORDS and debuting “If I Die Young Pt. 2.” Her solo journey began to unfold with the release of the “Bloom” EP, and she hinted at a full-length album by fall 2023. Her solo expansion continued with “Superbloom,” an extended version of “Bloom,” featuring new tracks and showcasing her evolving artistic narrative.
Reid Perry
Reid Perry, playing bass guitar and providing background vocals, has been with The Band Perry since its inception. His contributions on bass have added depth to the band’s sound, complementing their music’s intricate harmonies and melodies. Reid’s involvement in the songwriting process has also played a significant role in shaping the band’s repertoire. His musical talents extend beyond The Band Perry, having collaborated with other artists and explored different musical genres, further broadening his experience in the industry.
Neil Perry
Neil Perry, the youngest member of The Band Perry, contributes on the mandolin, drums, accordion, and provides background vocals. His multi-instrumental talents add a unique layer to the band’s music, allowing for a diverse range of sounds and styles within their albums. Neil’s energy and creativity have been vital in the development of the band’s dynamic performances and recordings.
