Asking Alexandria has a complicated formation history. Guitarist Ben Bruce first used the Asking Alexandria name for a band he formed while living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2006. After that lineup dissolved, Bruce returned to the United Kingdom and formed a new Asking Alexandria lineup in York, North Yorkshire, in 2008. Initially known for their heavy blend of metalcore and electronic elements, the band evolved over time, embracing a more diverse rock sound. The modern incarnation gained significant attention with Stand Up and Scream (2009), Reckless & Relentless (2011), and From Death to Destiny (2013), among others. Their latest studio album is Where Do We Go from Here?, released in 2023. Following Ben Bruce’s departure in 2024, the performing lineup has centered on Danny Worsnop, Cameron Liddell, Sam Bettley, and James Cassells. The band continued touring through 2025 before taking a break in 2026.

Danny Worsnop

Danny Worsnop became the lead vocalist of the rebuilt Asking Alexandria lineup in 2008. He contributed significantly to the band’s breakthrough work, including Stand Up and Scream, Reckless & Relentless, and From Death to Destiny. Worsnop’s powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence were key to the band’s early success. He left the band in 2015 to focus on We Are Harlot and his solo career. Worsnop returned as Asking Alexandria’s frontman in 2016 and has since appeared on the self-titled Asking Alexandria (2017), Like a House on Fire (2020), See What’s on the Inside (2021), and Where Do We Go from Here? (2023). He has also continued his solo career, increasingly exploring country, blues, and roots-based music.

Ben Bruce

Ben Bruce founded the original Dubai-based Asking Alexandria and later formed the entirely new British lineup that became internationally successful. As lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and a primary songwriter, Bruce played on all eight studio albums released by the modern Asking Alexandria lineup from Stand Up and Scream through Where Do We Go from Here?. Outside of Asking Alexandria, Bruce participated in various musical projects and acted in the film American Satan. On January 19, 2024, Bruce announced that he was stepping away from Asking Alexandria to devote more time to his family.

Cameron Liddell

Cameron Liddell joined the rebuilt Asking Alexandria lineup in 2008 as rhythm guitarist. He has played on all eight studio albums released by the modern band, from Stand Up and Scream through Where Do We Go from Here?. Liddell’s rhythm guitar work long complemented Ben Bruce’s lead playing and provided a solid foundation for the band’s heavy sound. Following Bruce’s departure in 2024, Liddell became Asking Alexandria’s sole official guitarist.

Sam Bettley

Sam Bettley joined Asking Alexandria as bassist in January 2009, replacing Joe Lancaster shortly before the band recorded Stand Up and Scream. His bass playing is featured on every studio album released by the modern lineup. Bettley’s presence has been integral to the band’s rhythm section as the group moved from its early metalcore and electronicore sound toward a broader hard rock approach.

James Cassells

James Cassells joined Asking Alexandria as drummer when the British lineup came together in 2008. His dynamic drumming is featured on all eight studio albums released by the modern band and has been vital to Asking Alexandria’s live performances. In 2025, Cassells also began filling in on drums for Breaking Benjamin while continuing to identify with Asking Alexandria.

Denis Stoff

Denis Stoff was the lead vocalist of Asking Alexandria from 2015 to 2016. He joined after Worsnop’s initial departure and recorded one studio album with the band, The Black (2016). Stoff’s tenure was brief, ending when Worsnop returned later that year. Before Asking Alexandria, Stoff had fronted Make Me Famous and Down & Dirty. He later formed Drag Me Out, which has continued releasing music into 2026.

Joe Lancaster

Joe Lancaster was the bassist in the newly formed British Asking Alexandria lineup in 2008. He played with the group during its early live period but left in January 2009 before the recording of Stand Up and Scream. Sam Bettley replaced him on bass. Lancaster later continued his music career with other bands in the UK’s heavy music scene.

James Murray

James Murray was the lead vocalist of Ben Bruce’s Dubai-based Asking Alexandria lineup before Bruce returned to the United Kingdom in 2008. Murray sang on the 2007 album The Irony of Your Perfection. That original lineup dissolved when Bruce returned to Britain and assembled the entirely new group that recorded Stand Up and Scream.

Robin Everett

Robin Everett was the rhythm guitarist in the original Dubai-based Asking Alexandria lineup. He played alongside Ben Bruce during the band’s early period and appeared on The Irony of Your Perfection. Everett did not continue into the British lineup Bruce formed in 2008.

Lucas Brown

Lucas Brown was the bassist in the original Dubai-based Asking Alexandria lineup. His playing can be heard on the band’s early material, including The Irony of Your Perfection. Brown’s tenure ended when that version of Asking Alexandria dissolved before Bruce returned to the United Kingdom.

Hitesh Gandhi

Hitesh Gandhi was the drummer in the original Dubai-based Asking Alexandria lineup. He performed on the band’s early material, including The Irony of Your Perfection. Gandhi was not part of the new British lineup Bruce assembled in 2008.

Ryan Binns

Ryan Binns played keyboards, synthesizers, and programming in the newly formed British Asking Alexandria lineup during 2008. His role contributed to the electronic elements that became a distinctive feature of the band’s early sound. Binns left before the recording of Stand Up and Scream, with the band continuing without a permanent keyboard player.
