The legendary Glastonbury Festival returned to Worthy Farm from June 25 through June 29, 2025, with a diverse and powerful lineup featuring some of rock’s most enduring icons. Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, Rod Stewart, and John Fogerty brought decades of classic rock history to the festival’s storied stages, standing alongside modern superstars and rising talents.
Neil Young returned to Glastonbury as the Saturday night Pyramid Stage headliner on June 28, performing with the Chrome Hearts. It was his second Glastonbury headline appearance after his celebrated 2009 set. Young opened with an acoustic “Sugar Mountain” before moving through a career-spanning performance that included songs such as “Cinnamon Girl,” “Harvest Moon,” “Old Man,” and “Rockin’ in the Free World.” His stripped-down approach put the focus on the songs, his guitar work, and the raw character that has defined his performances for decades.
Rod Stewart took the legend slot on Sunday afternoon, returning to the Pyramid Stage more than two decades after headlining Glastonbury in 2002. His set mixed solo hits and Faces material, with “Maggie May,” “You Wear It Well,” “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?,” “Stay With Me,” and “Sailing” among the songs performed. Stewart was joined by Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknall, and Lulu, while festival founder Michael Eavis also appeared onstage. The performance turned the traditional Sunday afternoon slot into a large-scale celebration of Stewart’s long career.
John Fogerty, the voice behind Creedence Clearwater Revival, performed on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday afternoon. His set reached deep into the CCR catalog, including “Up Around the Bend,” “Green River,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?,” “Down on the Corner,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Proud Mary.” Fogerty’s appearance brought one of American rock’s most recognizable catalogs to Worthy Farm and gave the festival another major connection to the music of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
A Lineup That Bridged Generations of Rock, Pop, and Alternative Music
Classic rock had a strong presence, but Glastonbury 2025 continued its tradition of embracing a wide range of genres. The 1975 headlined the Pyramid Stage on Friday, marking their first time at the top of the Glastonbury bill. The band brought its genre-blurring mix of indie rock, synth-pop, and alternative sounds to the festival’s biggest stage.
Olivia Rodrigo closed the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night, three years after her 2022 Glastonbury debut on the Other Stage. Her headline set mixed the pop-rock songs that made her one of the defining young artists of the decade with a major surprise appearance by The Cure’s Robert Smith. Together they performed “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven.”
Charli XCX headlined the Other Stage on Saturday, bringing the energy of her Brat era to one of the weekend’s largest crowds. The Prodigy closed the Other Stage on Sunday night, returning to Glastonbury for their first festival appearance there since the death of Keith Flint in 2019.
New Faces and Returning Favorites
Glastonbury 2025 also welcomed several first-time performers, including Alanis Morissette, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, and Doechii. Morissette made her Glastonbury debut on the Pyramid Stage on Friday, three decades after the release of Jagged Little Pill. Doechii made her Glastonbury debut on Saturday night with a theatrical West Holts headline set built around her “school of hip-hop” concept.
The festival also saw the return of acts that had become fan favorites over the years. Fatboy Slim, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, and Wolf Alice were among the returning names. Wet Leg, who had a breakout year in 2022, performed on the Other Stage on Friday. Saturday also brought one of the weekend’s biggest surprise appearances when the mysterious Pyramid Stage act billed as Patchwork was revealed to be Pulp.

Glastonbury’s Legacy Continued
Since its inception in 1970, Glastonbury Festival has remained one of the world’s most famous live music events, drawing crowds to Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset. The 2025 edition continued that legacy with a lineup that stretched across generations and genres, placing veteran rock performers alongside contemporary pop, alternative, hip-hop, electronic, and indie artists.
For fans of classic rock, the festival provided the chance to see Neil Young, Rod Stewart, and John Fogerty bring their catalogs to the same Glastonbury weekend. The completed festival ultimately featured more than 3,000 performances across dozens of stages, making the 2025 edition another enormous chapter in Glastonbury’s history.
