Devon Allman was born on August 10, 1972, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is the son of Gregg Allman, the famed co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band. Devon Allman grew up in various locations, including Texas and St. Louis, Missouri, and did not have regular contact with his father during his early years. His interest in music developed independently as a teenager, and by his twenties, he was actively performing with local bands in St. Louis.

In the early 1990s, Devon Allman founded the band Honeytribe, originally called Devon Allman’s Honeytribe. The band became a fixture on the blues-rock scene, performing throughout the Midwest and recording their debut album, Torch, which was released in 2006.
