Eddie and the Hot Rods are a British pub rock band from Canvey Island, Essex, formed in 1975. They are considered one of the pioneering bands in the pub rock and punk rock movements in the UK. Over their career, Eddie and the Hot Rods have released several studio albums, live recordings, and compilations. Known for their energetic performances and raw sound, they achieved notable UK chart success with their albums and singles, most famously “Do Anything You Wanna Do,” which reached number nine on the UK Singles Chart in 1977. The band’s lineup has undergone numerous changes, with Barrie Masters serving as the consistent lead vocalist until his death in 2019. The band continued afterward with longtime bassist Ian “Dipster” Dean taking over lead vocals and remained active in 2026, when 50th-anniversary Teenage Depression tour dates were announced. Life on the Line (1977)

Released: 1977

Life on the Line marked a significant evolution in the band’s sound, incorporating more complex structures and slightly moving away from their punk roots. Thriller (1979)

Released: 1979

Thriller continued the band’s exploration into a more refined rock sound and reached number 50 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, mixed at the Roundhouse, and produced by Peter Ker. While not as commercially successful as its predecessors, Thriller showcased a maturation of the band’s style and songwriting.

Gasoline Days marked a return for Eddie and the Hot Rods after a long absence from recording new material. The album was recorded in May 1995 at The Wonderful House in the Woods in Surrey, England, and released in 1996. It was produced by Eddie and the Hot Rods and Simon Milton. The lineup featured Barrie Masters on vocals, Paul Gray on bass, Steve Nicol on drums, and Mick Rogers on guitar.

Released worldwide in April 2023 through Outro Records and Renaissance Records, the album was recorded at H&S Studio in Hastings and produced by Richard Holgarth. The lineup featured Ian “Dipster” Dean on vocals, Richard Holgarth on guitar, Simon Bowley on drums, and Mic Stoner on bass.
