Imagine Dragons formed in 2008 in Provo, Utah, before relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, where the band built the local following that helped launch its career. The group gained substantial commercial success and a broad international fan base with the breakthrough single “It’s Time” and subsequent hits like “Radioactive” and “Demons” from the debut album Night Visions in 2012. Over the years, the band’s lineup has seen several changes, with different members contributing to its unique sound characterized by emotional lyrics, anthemic choruses, and a blend of various music genres. Imagine Dragons has released six studio albums, culminating with Loom in 2024. The band’s current official lineup consists of Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, and Ben McKee.

Dan Reynolds

Dan Reynolds is the charismatic lead vocalist of Imagine Dragons and one of its founding members. Since the band’s inception in 2008, Reynolds has been a driving force behind its creative direction and distinctive sound. His powerful voice and dynamic stage presence have become synonymous with the Imagine Dragons experience. Reynolds has contributed to all of the band’s studio albums, including Night Visions, Smoke + Mirrors, Evolve, Origins, Mercury – Acts 1 & 2, and Loom. Beyond his work with the band, Reynolds has spoken publicly about depression and ankylosing spondylitis and has used his platform to advocate for mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ rights. In 2017, he founded LOVELOUD, which supports and celebrates LGBTQ+ youth and communities.

Wayne Sermon

Guitarist Wayne Sermon joined Imagine Dragons in 2009, bringing with him a background from the Berklee College of Music. His intricate guitar work and backing vocals have been integral to the band’s sound throughout its rise to international success. Sermon’s versatility on the guitar has allowed the band to explore a wide range of musical styles across its discography. He has played on all of the band’s major studio releases through Loom, contributing not only musically but also in the songwriting process. Outside of Imagine Dragons, Sermon has kept a relatively low profile, focusing primarily on his work with the band.

Ben McKee

Ben McKee joined Imagine Dragons as bassist in 2009. A fellow alumnus of the Berklee College of Music with Wayne Sermon, McKee’s bass lines are a fundamental aspect of the band’s rhythmically driven sound. He has played on all of the band’s major studio albums through Loom, providing bass guitar and backing vocals while occasionally contributing keyboards and other instruments. McKee has remained a core member through the band’s many lineup changes and is part of the current three-member official lineup with Reynolds and Sermon.

Daniel Platzman

Daniel Platzman joined Imagine Dragons in 2011, taking over the role of drummer after Andrew Tolman’s departure. His background in film scoring from Berklee College of Music added a cinematic quality to the band’s music, evident in its expansive soundscapes and dramatic live performances. Platzman appeared on the band’s studio albums from Night Visions through Mercury – Acts 1 & 2, contributing percussion, backing vocals, viola, and other instruments. He stepped away from touring in March 2023 to focus on his health and announced his permanent departure from Imagine Dragons in August 2024. He subsequently shifted his focus toward film scoring and composing. Loom was the band’s first studio album released without him.

Andrew Tolman

Andrew Tolman was one of the original members of Imagine Dragons, serving as the drummer from 2008 until his departure in 2011. Tolman’s drumming can be heard on the band’s early EPs, which helped establish their sound and gain initial recognition. He left the group in 2011 along with his wife and fellow band member Brittany Tolman. After leaving Imagine Dragons, Tolman continued his musical career, including work with The Moth & The Flame. In 2023, he returned to Imagine Dragons as a touring drummer after Daniel Platzman stepped away from live performances, and he continued behind the kit during the Loom touring era.

Brittany Tolman

Brittany Tolman played keyboards and provided backing vocals for Imagine Dragons during her tenure with the band from 2009 to 2011. Her contributions are present on the band’s early EPs, where her backing vocals and keyboard playing added depth and texture to their sound. She left the group in 2011 along with Andrew Tolman and later continued pursuing music and other projects.

Andrew Beck

Andrew Colin Beck, born on May 23, 1986, is an American artist and musician who was an early member of Imagine Dragons. Beck played guitar and contributed vocals during the band’s first incarnation in 2008 and participated in the early Speak to Me recordings. Following his tenure with Imagine Dragons, Beck continued working as an illustrator and graphic designer while remaining active in music. He later became a member of the Salt Lake City baroque-pop band The Mellons.

Theresa Flaminio

Theresa Flaminio, also known professionally as DANiiVORY, joined Imagine Dragons as a keyboardist and backing vocalist after the departure of Brittany and Andrew Tolman in 2011. Her connection to the band was rooted in her Berklee College of Music background, which she shared with other members of Imagine Dragons. Flaminio performed with the band during this transitional period from 2011 into early 2012 before departing. She later performed under the name DANiiVORY and worked with a variety of major artists.

Aurora Florence

Aurora Florence was part of the original 2008 incarnation of Imagine Dragons, playing piano, keyboards, and violin while providing additional vocals. She contributed to the band’s earliest Speak to Me recordings before leaving the group later in 2008. Florence went on to work as a musician, actor, writer, producer, and director.

Dave Lemke

Dave Lemke was also part of the early Imagine Dragons lineup, playing bass and contributing backing vocals from 2008 into 2009. He participated in the band’s formative period before Ben McKee joined as bassist and the group relocated its focus toward Las Vegas.

Imagine Dragons’ journey from its early days in Provo and Las Vegas to international stardom has been marked by an evolving sound, deeply personal lyrics, memorable live performances, and several important lineup changes.
