Jack Harlow is an American rapper and songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. He began rapping at age 12 and started releasing music in 2015 while he was still in high school. Harlow released several EPs and mixtapes independently, including The Handsome Harlow (2015), 18 (2016), Gazebo (2017), Loose (2018), and Confetti (2019). In 2018, he signed to Don Cannon and DJ Drama’s Generation Now label, an imprint under Atlantic Records.
His breakthrough came with the 2020 single “Whats Poppin,” which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 following a remix featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez, and Lil Wayne. The song received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. In December 2020, Harlow released his debut studio album That’s What They All Say, which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. The album included the singles “Tyler Herro,” “Way Out” (featuring Big Sean), and “Already Best Friends” (featuring Chris Brown). In 2021, he was featured on Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Harlow’s second studio album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, was released in May 2022. The album included the singles “Nail Tech,” “First Class,” “Dua Lipa,” and “Churchill Downs” (featuring Drake). “First Class” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Harlow’s first solo chart-topper. Come Home the Kids Miss You debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. In 2023, Harlow released his third studio album, Jackman., which debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200. The album received positive reviews and included tracks such as “Common Ground” and “They Don’t Love It.”
Jack Harlow has received several awards and nominations during his career. He has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance. He has won awards such as Top Rap Song at the Billboard Music Awards for “Industry Baby,” and Best Collaboration at the MTV Video Music Awards. Harlow has also received nominations from the BET Awards and the American Music Awards.
Outside of music, Harlow has been active in philanthropy and social initiatives. He donated to Louisville community organizations during the protests following the death of Breonna Taylor and has been involved with the Metro United Way and the Center for Women and Families. Harlow is also known for his involvement in basketball and has participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
