Known for their innovative blend of metalcore and melodic death metal, the band has released several albums that have significantly influenced the genre. Over the years, Killswitch Engage has seen several lineup changes, with both current and former members contributing to their evolving sound. They have released eight studio albums, achieving considerable chart success and receiving nominations for Grammy Awards.

Jesse Leach

Jesse Leach, one of the founding members of Killswitch Engage, initially served as the lead vocalist from 1999 until 2002. During his early tenure, he contributed to their self-titled debut album and their breakout album, Alive or Just Breathing. His lyrics and vocal style were pivotal in defining the band’s early sound. Leach rejoined the band in 2012 and has since been a part of Disarm the Descent, Incarnate, and Atonement. Outside of Killswitch Engage, Jesse has been involved in other musical projects such as Seemless, The Empire Shall Fall, and Times of Grace.

Adam Dutkiewicz

Adam Dutkiewicz joined Killswitch Engage as a drummer during their formation in 1999 but later moved to guitars before the recording of Alive or Just Breathing. Known for his energetic performance and production skills, Adam has played a crucial role in the band’s sound and success. He has been a constant presence in the band, contributing to all of their albums. Beyond Killswitch Engage, Adam is renowned for his production work with other bands in the metalcore scene, such as All That Remains and As I Lay Dying.

Joel Stroetzel

Joel Stroetzel is another founding member of Killswitch Engage, and he has been the consistent rhythm guitarist since the band’s inception. Joel’s guitar work is a cornerstone of the band’s musical style, featured prominently on all their albums. Before Killswitch Engage, he was a member of the band Aftershock with Dutkiewicz. Joel’s steady rhythms and backing vocals have been instrumental in the band’s sound.

He made his debut with the band on their third album, The End of Heartache, which garnered significant critical and commercial success. Howard’s powerful voice and dynamic presence were integral during his tenure. He appeared on three studio albums before departing in 2012. Post-Killswitch Engage, Howard has been involved with the band Light the Torch, formerly known as Devil You Know.
