Jesse Leach
Jesse Leach, one of the founding members of Killswitch Engage, initially served as the lead vocalist from 1999 until 2002. During his early tenure, he contributed to their self-titled debut album and their breakout album, Alive or Just Breathing. His lyrics and vocal style were pivotal in defining the band’s early sound. Leach rejoined the band in 2012 and has since been a part of Disarm the Descent, Incarnate, and Atonement. Outside of Killswitch Engage, Jesse has been involved in other musical projects such as Seemless, The Empire Shall Fall, and Times of Grace.
Adam Dutkiewicz
Adam Dutkiewicz joined Killswitch Engage as a drummer during their formation in 1999 but later moved to guitars before the recording of Alive or Just Breathing. Known for his energetic performance and production skills, Adam has played a crucial role in the band’s sound and success. He has been a constant presence in the band, contributing to all of their albums. Beyond Killswitch Engage, Adam is renowned for his production work with other bands in the metalcore scene, such as All That Remains and As I Lay Dying.
Joel Stroetzel
Joel Stroetzel is another founding member of Killswitch Engage, and he has been the consistent rhythm guitarist since the band’s inception. Joel’s guitar work is a cornerstone of the band’s musical style, featured prominently on all their albums. Before Killswitch Engage, he was a member of the band Aftershock with Dutkiewicz. Joel’s steady rhythms and backing vocals have been instrumental in the band’s sound.

Mike D’Antonio
Mike D’Antonio, the band’s bassist and another founding member, has been with Killswitch Engage since its beginning. Justin Foley
Justin Foley joined Killswitch Engage in 2003 as the drummer after the departure of Tom Gomes. He made his debut with the band on their third album, The End of Heartache, which garnered significant critical and commercial success. Justin has been known for his technical proficiency and has been a key part of their sound in all subsequent releases. Outside of Killswitch Engage, he has also played with the band Blood Has Been Shed.
Howard Jones
Howard Jones was the lead vocalist of Killswitch Engage from 2002 to 2012. He replaced Jesse Leach and debuted on the band’s 2004 album, The End of Heartache, which brought the band widespread acclaim and a Grammy nomination. Howard’s powerful voice and dynamic presence were integral during his tenure. He appeared on three studio albums before departing in 2012. Post-Killswitch Engage, Howard has been involved with the band Light the Torch, formerly known as Devil You Know.
Tom Gomes
Tom Gomes was the drummer for Killswitch Engage from their formation until 2003. He played on the band’s first two albums, Killswitch Engage and Alive or Just Breathing. His drumming laid the groundwork for what would become their signature sound. After leaving Killswitch Engage, Tom moved away from the spotlight, focusing on personal projects and less public musical endeavors.
