Metro Boomin, whose real name is Leland Tyler Wayne, is an American record producer, record executive, and DJ from St. Louis, Missouri. He began his career in music production while still in high school, initially making beats on a laptop that his mother bought him in the seventh grade. His mother would drive him from St. Louis to Atlanta to collaborate with artists he met online. By age 16, Metro Boomin was producing for established artists in the Atlanta hip hop scene.

Metro Boomin gained significant attention for his work with artists like Future, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Young Thug. In 2013, he produced the single “Karate Chop” for Future, which marked a turning point in his career.
